Experience an elevated Afternoon Tea at The Whitby Bar, where our new spring menu highlights the season’s finest flavors. Served in our colorful restaurant or the elegant Orangery, Afternoon Tea is presented on Kit Kemp’s signature Sailor’s Farewell Wedgwood china, adding a touch of charm to this indulgent experience. Begin with a selection of savory bites, including smoked chicken salad with sour cherry aioli and watercress, curried Maine lobster salad on brioche, egg salad with Périgord black truffle remoulade, and Robiola cheese with cucumber and dill. For those with a sweet tooth, our pastry selection features a rich 70% Valrhona chocolate opera cake, black raspberry bomboloni, pistachio canelé with Amarena cherries, and a delicate elderflower and Meyer lemon pudding tart. No Afternoon Tea is complete without scones, and ours are freshly baked in plain and apricot varieties, served with traditional clotted cream and preserves. Guests can enjoy their choice of drip coffee, hot chocolate, or one of our carefully curated specialty teas. For a more indulgent experience, consider our Royal Tea for Two. This luxurious addition includes one ounce of Petrossian Royal Ossetra caviar, served with warm house-made blinis, crème fraîche, and fines herbes. The Royal Tea is available at $155 per person, or $165 per person when paired with a glass of Joseph Perrier, Brut NV. Our traditional Afternoon Tea is offered at $95 per person, or $125 per person with a glass of Joseph Perrier, Brut NV. • Easter Afternoon Tea at The Whitby Hotel

    US$95.00 per person

    20 Apr 2025 only
Easter Afternoon Tea, But Make It Unforgettable This isn’t just a regular afternoon tea. It’s Easter, and we’re doing it right—with bold flavors, delicate technique, and just the right amount of indulgence. Start with the kind of savory bites that stop conversation mid-sentence: smoked chicken salad with sour cherry aioli, curried Maine lobster tucked into buttery brioche, and egg salad elevated with Périgord black truffle. There’s Robiola cheese with cucumber and dill, because balance matters—and a good tea sandwich should never be boring. Then the sweets arrive. Carrot opera cake, dark and rich with just enough whimsy. Black raspberry macarons that melt away in one perfect bite. Valrhona chocolate with calamansi that hits the high notes. A Jordan almond canelé for texture and tradition. And of course, classic and apricot scones, warm and ready for clotted cream and preserves—because some things are sacred. It all comes with your pick of drip coffee, rich hot chocolate, or specialty tea. Want to kick it up a notch? Add a glass of Joseph Perrier Brut NV—because bubbles make everything better. $95 per person, or $125 with Champagne. Available for a limited time this Easter. Book the experience on OpenTable. Bring someone you like. Or don’t. Just come hungry.

Wine isn’t just about swirling glasses and reciting tasting notes—it’s about the experience. This April, pull up a chair at The Whitby and enjoy a menu crafted to showcase the brilliance of Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay—one of Australia’s most celebrated wines. No gimmicks, no unnecessary fuss—just a thoughtfully curated meal with a world-class pairing. Start with Wellfleet oyster chowder, briny and rich, the way it should be. Then, miso-glazed Faroe Island salmon, a perfect balance of umami, sweetness, and subtle smoke, paired with Leeuwin Estate’s signature Chardonnay, known for its elegance, texture, and vibrant citrus notes. Finish with a crème brûlée that cracks just right, served alongside drip coffee, tea, and petit fours—because every great meal deserves a sweet and satisfying ending. This isn’t just dinner. It’s a moment, a memory, a reason to slow down and savor something truly special. Seats are limited—don’t miss out. $165 per person | Reservations recommended.

Afternoon tea experience was extremely disappointing. $95/pp for tea, 4 bite sized pastries, 2 scones, and 3 sliver sized and mushy finger sandwiches, and 1 the size of two quarters. The waiter said they make the food in advance which is why the sandwiches are mushy. The moisture from the food seeps into the bread and it’s very unappetizing. This is the second time we went to tea here and this has been the case both times. So for tea and scones, you can just go to Harney and Sons and pay $15 for an equally pleasant experience and the same amount of food. $95 for tea and scones is just highway robbery. The decor is nice and the tea is good, but that’s about it. Their sister hotel, the Crosby, has even better decor and I recommend their tea over the Whitby. They also serve much more food so the price feels more so justified, and while the sandwiches are also mushy there because they’re premade, they are much bigger. If you really want to go here, just order a cup of tea off the menu because the rest of the experience is not worthwhile.

My favorite go to for breakfast, and drinks! Food is healthy, fresh, and delicious! The menu has a great variety. The service is excellent and decor is bright, sophisticated and uplifting but warm. And mostly pretty low noise factor!

The restaurant is trendy and fashionable. Obviously the place for local business people. The tea was $100 but website and my confirmation said $75. The sandwiches were a little moist but scones were very good. I thought the tea was overpriced. Lunch of hamburger and salmon for two others was very nicely done.

We had afternoon tea with caviar and champagne addition. The caviar service was very good, the sandwiches and baked goods were just okay. The waitress kept the water glasses filled, but otherwise was not very present and made a significant error on the bill and needed to be shown the menu to remedy it. The tea was served first and sat while we were enjoying the champagne and caviar. By the time the tea stand was served, the tea was quite cold. The dining room was beautiful and set a wonderful atmosphere. Although, there were many empty tables, we were seated directly next to two other tables on the banquette and felt crowded unnecessarily. Can’t go too wrong having afternoon tea with people you enjoy, but it could have been much better. A bit disappointing.
