The Wine House is a really good place for date night, out with good friends, or pretty much any occasion. The food is good quality and well prepared, and there are enough choices everyone can find something they like. My favorite is Steak Frites as a main course. The Wine list, as you would expect, is good and servers are happy to offer good advice about the choices. Don't know if they have a time limit for tables, but on a Thursday night 6 pm reservations, with most tables full, we were not rushed out, as is sometimes the case in US.

In our experience the quality of the food has declined. It used to be a meal that we would rave about.

Thank you for your feedback, and I want to apologize for your recent experience with us. It’s disappointing to hear that the quality of our food no longer meets your expectations, especially since it was something you previously enjoyed and raved about. Regarding your private note, I understand your frustration, but I’d like to clarify that we did not receive an email from you. It’s possible there was a miscommunication or technical issue, and I regret that this prevented us from addressing your concerns sooner. Your feedback is valuable and will be taken into consideration.

It was okay. Steak frites was so so and risotto was fair.

Our server Lisa was excellent. Food and wine are always outstanding. We often go to The Wine House. This time it was Fairfax Restaurant Week. The choices on the menu were diverse and very good. A new dessert is the Chai Tea Creme Brûlée. I hope TWH keeps it on the menu. It is even better than the usual creme brûlée. So glad to have this excellent restaurant in Fairfax City.

During restaurant week most if not all area restaurants have a 3 course meal for a fixed price but this restaurant only has 2 courses. They also boldly write that you can't share, make substitutions or carry out. Leaves you with a feeling that they are cheap and petty. Food was ok, husband enjoyed beef burgundy, my steak frites was underseasoned, chewy and unevenly cooked. Will not be returning and I wouldn't recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience during Restaurant Week did not meet your expectations. The City no longer requires participating restaurants to offer 3 courses, instead giving us carte blanche to showcase our menu. We are sorry to hear that your steak was not up to standard and have addressed this with the Chef. The policies on sharing, substitutions, and carry-out are in place to ensure the best possible dining experience for all our guests, but we understand they may not be suitable for everyone.

Great dinner last night. It was restaurant week. There were good choices on the menu. I recommend the burrata with arugula for an appetizer & the lamb shank for the main course. Both were excellent.
