I have been to Ash about 7 times in the past. Always loved the food and service. Not sure if they have changed the chef but the food was not good at all and prices went significantly up. So sad but we will not go back unfortunately.

It was a VERY quiet restaurant for a Saturday night. The few menu items we tried were good not great and the menu is very limited. Our server was great and did the best she could given the limited options

The ambiance was great, as was the service. The food was good, but not worth the price.

The space is very well made and decorated. There is an open kitchen, adding to the overall warmth. We started with cocktails at the bar. Cool bartender and good cocktails. The restaurant was empty but oddly the service at the table was non attentive, I would call it amateur. We had to literally go and ask for napkins, steak knives etc. The menu is very limited with a choice of 4 appetizers, 4 mains and 2 desserts. The fish is good but the beef ribs, although well cooked, extremely fat. The memorable part was the bone marrow and the chocolate bread putting. Even if the goal is a simple menu, it still needs work, imagination and definitely an addition of side dishes. Overall, we don’t want to be too critical, as they just opened, but if they keep this level of performance and efficiency, I am afraid they will not survive.

Neat looking hotel and interior and good location. Terrible idea to go at 10am on a Sunday when they are switching to brunch outside. Service was terribly slow and hen you asked for anything i.e. ketchup - they would forget to return with it. Many items were not available as they no longer serve but have not yet changed their menu. So maybe a bad day and a server missing threw it all off.

Went for Mother's Day. No notification they were only offering a buffet, no normal menu selections. First, the place was deserted, completely understaffed, the waitresses (2) were overwhelmed. No one greeted us, there was no silverware or place settings at table, had to ask for them. Was informed the buffet was $79 per person. That didn't include a drink! They should have at least offered mother's a complimentary mimosa. When we went to get our food, we noticed the selections were woefully small and looked very unattractive. The waitresses were kind but obviously frustrated. All in all a negative experience. Won't be back.

I am posting this to help others with information for future Mother's Day Events. I was looking online and tried looking for some kind of data on the upcoming event and I tried calling Iron Horse Hotel about the ASH restaurant with no return phone calls. The Brunch was all-you-can-eat for $80 a person. The Prime Rib was good and the king crab legs also. The craving station was a bit slow and a bit later, I realized they also were servicing pork butt/ham. The overall spread was small for the price and there was no melted butter for the crab legs. Ash Restaurant needed signs on food displays and signage for guidance for in/out of the line. Also for Buffet/Brunch, there was a 20% Gratuity added to the receipt (for two guests) so add another 50 dollars to the bill (gratuity and Tax). about $200 for two. Next year for Mother's day will do a home barbecue.

The Mother's Day brunch was excellent and included some unexpected items - Alaskan King Crab legs, tuna tartare, thick cut smoked pork belly, excellent jumbo shrimp and on and on. It was pricey, but splurge for a special occasion.

3 of us went for Mothers' Day Brunch which was principally a buffet. Service was not good. Main issue was the meat station - frequently unattended with no one keeping an eye out for when people were queuing. Felt very much like they had brought in staff just for Mothers Day and hadnt trained them properly on the menu. We had a great server and she did her best to hide it but just by watching closely you could see the frustrations (food coming out slow, incomplete when it came from the kitchen, having full selection out for people to chose from on the buffet). Nearly all the food was really good - lovely selections of meats, cold meats, cheeses, omelette station, waffles, seafood - and all very good quality. There were a few issues on the pastries/desserts side though - 1) they couldnt keep up with demand, 2) mislabelled one dessert (very berry parfait turned out to be a brownie parfait - may not sound too bad but I have a chocolate intolerance so I am sensitive to these types of details), 3) creme brulee was unlike any creme brulee I have ever had (curdled). I think ASH would be good on a normal day - loved the set up, decor - but this wasnt their best day.
