   Excellent food, service & atmosphere as usual. The game terrine was my favourite today, the burger was also perfect and the sticky toffee pudding divine 😋 Love the 'brewed in Italy' Japanese Asahi 0% beer, perfect for an English pub 😁

   Disappointing Sunday lunch . Ordered the roast beef which was very tough and inedible and dinner was not very warm . Mentioned it to the waiter , but did not apologise

   Lovely place, wanted to try it after recent change of name and presentation. Food menu very interesting and good range of textures and styles . I had soup with small scones followed by lovely Hake dish with a bouillabaisse None of tried deserts as we were full Nice touch the coffee came with chocolate which is rare these days but very welcome

   My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed an early Christmas lunch of turkey ballotines with all the trimmings. Interesting rich bread sauce, tasty glazed vegetables but the star of the show was the gravy. A rich shiny jus with a hint of cranberry sweetness. A second gravy boat sailed into view (after a polite request for more please!). Xmas pudding was unctuous and fruity and the apple and gingerbread crumble was equally delicious. Room temperature could have been higher and the Drambuie custard which should have accompanied the crumble took a while to appear but worth the wait.

   Dined here this evening and ordered the pie, after being told it was steak and ale pie. It was steak and kidney. Which was unpleasant as I don’t like kidney at all. The restaurant was absolutely freezing with the couple behind us being asked to move to try to get some heat from a radiator which then we discovered it wasn’t actually on. I had a goose down coat on the entire time I ate, the other poor girl who moved was buried in layers and even kept her scarf on. We asked for orange juice for my daughter and were given some vile bitter concoction of mandarin and apple juice, which was truly horrid and bitter, without being asked if that was okay. After asking for the bill we left the full amount in cash within the holder provided, and left the change because it was so cold. We headed to the car and were chased down by a member of staff who accused us of not paying for the food. I have never been so insulted as to be accused of stealing in public. I have been here regularly in the past and will not be returning.
