The service was good. Attentive. The food was nice but I feel expensive for what we received. The coffee was extremely good!

We were sat by cold and draughty back doorway. People walking past all the time. The food wasn't the warmest. Meat good. Veg option poor... a tartlet not a pie. We felt rushed by the waitress. Expensive for what it was.

Been here a few times now and although the atmosphere in Three's a Crowd is usually fun, the food is disappointing. A starter "vol au vent" was a small round of puff pastry about 1.5cm tall with a smear of bland mushroom-y sauce on top. A vol au vent is supposed to be deep, rich and flaky. This was soggy. A main of duck breast (you had to have sides with this, as it was basically just the meat) cost £24. It arrived cold and was sent back with apologies from the front of house staff, but took around ten minutes to come back, now slightly overdone. By this time most of the table had finished their main courses. A vegetarian main of butternut squash orzo was bland and also on the tepid side. It's so unimaginative to offer butternut squash as the only vegetarian meal and we noticed that one of the sides was also butternut squash mash, reducing options even further. The serving staff are very pleasant and helpful and the drinks service was attentive. However, two specials were left on the board after having been sold out, raising expectations which were then not met. It wouldn't have been difficult to cross them off. We've tried this place three times and will now give up. Better independent restaurants are available in Harrogate.

We had a great Sunday dinner, the staff were friendly and service was great. I enjoyed my roast beef and my partner enjoyed the fish and chips. We would recommend it and would return if we visit the area again.

This is a smart bar/restaurant that promises a lot and delivers very little. The young staff are pleasant but there’s obviously something wrong in the kitchen when you have to wait nearly an hour for your food and when it arrives it’s very disappointing. I’m no expert but I watch Masterchef and I know that a turkey ballotine should be wrapped around a delicious stuffing and served in rounds, not three slices slapped on a plate with some mediocre veg like a lukewarm school dinner. There were no triple cooked chips left (at 7.15pm??) and my mushroom vol-au-vent was tough and dry. The waitress was apologetic and gave us two free drinks and a discounted bill but I would rather have paid full price and had a decent meal. Not sure how they’ve managed to accrue so many good recent reviews on Trip advisor when the one earlier in the year says exactly the same as us. My advice? Have drinks there and eat somewhere else until they get a new chef!

We booked 3 weeks in advance a table for 4 at 7:15. We arrived and were promptly seated. It was busy with a buzzy atmosphere. It took ages for our order to be taken. We were told “it’s really busy, so there’s a wait for food” 10 minutes later after our initial order was taken the waiter came back with menus. One of the starters had gone, along with the main course that 3 of us had selected. We ordered again. We waited around 45 minutes for the starters but the bread that came with the ham hock terrine wasn’t chargrilled it was cremated. At 8:55pm I did politely say to a waitress “we’ve been here since 7:15, we will leave at 9 if our mains aren’t here”. Our main courses then appeared. I felt desperately sorry for the polite young waiting staff, and asked to speak to the manager who immediately came over and deducted 50% off the food which was the correct thing to do. However, our expectations were not managed appropriately throughout the evening and I feel that if I’d not asked to speak to someone no action or apology would’ve been forthcoming. I have eaten here 3 or 4 times previously and this time the experience left all of us feeling underwhelmed to say the least.

Was lucky to get a booking at this very busy place for 1.15 on Sunday 24th November. Food was fabulous had the Lamb Shank from the specials menu with extra stuffing and cauliflower cheese. Delicious food and attentive service 3 Sunday lunches served and presented well and 3 desserts. Glad I booked early as it got a little noisy later on when full but overall would recommend and would return.
