   I took my family to The Tickled Trout for lunch on Sunday, after reading good reviews. It was not a good day to visit. At 12:30pm when we arrived we were the only customers in the restaurant, and when we left after our meal only 2 more people were there. We don't live in the Newport area, and on a rainy Sunday the streets were deserted. However, after we finished our meal, we went next door to see what the new Market Street food conversion looked like we were amazed to find it completely packed out across the whole ground floor area, which is very large. So, Sunday does not appear to be a popular day to visit The Tickled Trout, and I think that I know why. Some of the items on the menu were not available, and also some drinks, including coke. Either they had had a very busy Saturday night, and not had time to re-stock, or they are just not well organised, but either way, it was very disappointing. As far as the food is concerned, it was pretty average, but was served quickly, but that may indicate that it was just heated up rather than freshly cooked. I would guess that it was the latter from the taste and quality. Overall, the manager was very friendly, the service was quite good, but the food and ambience were not up to expectations. Having said that, I'm 71, and have a lot of restaurant experience, so maybe young people would have had a different view.

   A delightful experience all round. A treasure to find this in the centre of Newport.

   Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, gorgeous food, great options of tapas. Definitely recommend and will be returning!

   A friend and I ate at the Tickled Trout on Saturday and were both extremely pleased with everything. The service was impeccable, the food was amazing and and the ambience was perfect. We will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely time.

   All be it on a Wednesday night, our visit to the Tickled Trout was a Birthday celebration, our meal was fantastic, just the right amount of portions and all cooked to how to perfection, so great food, wonderful staff, who catered our every need. Very welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be having more visits there for food and drinks. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

   I celebrated my birthday with friends at the Tickled Trout, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The food and the drinks were amazing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring everything went smoothly. I highly recommend the Tickled Trout for anyone looking for great food and drinks. Can’t wait to visit again!

   The bar server refused to honour our Open Table booking for the alcove which was booked 10 days previously. She didn’t even apologise for the inconvenience. Otherwise the food was really good and our waitress lovely. A customer focused bar server and guaranteed booking service would improve the experience.

   We booked for 6 people but there were 7 of us ..this was no problem and they were very accommodating .service and food was excellent ...it was a bit quiet compared to other times being there but didn't spoil our night....Will definitely book again

    Came here a year ago and it was awesome. Bit disappointed this time around... In was a Saturday evening and there were only two tables of two seated, which seems mad in mid-December. The service was great, but the food really let it down, especially compared to last time. A pretty intoxicated chap came into the bar for a drink whilst we were there. Extremely loud, singing at the top of his voice, coming around talking to all the tables. Pretty much killed any of the minimal atmosphere that was in there! Really gutted it's gone downhill so much in a year, won't be coming back unfortunately.
