   Great restaurant, our first time there, our friends that were with us have been there several times. Excellent food, portions were great (had leftovers to take home). Great ambiance, no too loud, and the staff were attentive. Definitely go!

   I have often said a great waitress/waiter can make an average meal better. At Tre Scalini on this trip we had and Exceptional Waitress and Exceptional food. Was an outstanding time.

   The staff was friendly and the service was very good. The food was excellent and we enjoyed our drinks. We were seated in the smaller room where the noise level was less than in the large dining room so the atmosphere was pleasant. The only down-side was that the parking attendant was not there that weekend evening so valet parking was not available. We had to park a block and a half away on a cold evening but we were grateful we were allowed to park in the Conti school lot.

   Overall the dinner was phenomenal however, the waiter was a bit slow and rather inattentive - we realized it was a busy evening but he just didn’t seem interested in serving. But the hostess, the food and the overall experience was very good!

   It was a busy night as it was Valentine's Day. We pulled up to valet parking sat there for 5 minutes drove down the block after no one came to the car at that point two spots on the road we're taking in front of us. Drove back around turn around waiting another 5 minutes for valet. At this point when no one showed up we parked high up on the highway ramp with lots of snow ice on the ground.

   The entree choices were somewhat limited and the appetizers seemed far to fancy. Almost everything had some type of sauce and it was very difficult to eat healthy. The main deterrent for me was that the chair was really uncomfortable with on the seat. Parking was definitely a deficiency. The valet parking really was your only choice and on an evening that was very cold, you had to stand out in the cold for quite a long time. Will not go to this restaurant again.

   The dining experience at Tre Scalini was wonderful. Although I was expecting more of a romantic vibe, my wife and I still very much enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming. All of the food was made to order, so we waited a little while but it was definitely worth the wait. 10/10

   Only thing that marred the experience was the table at which our party of 5 was seated. It was immediately up against a large pole which separated two of our group. Quality of the food and service was excellent. Very extensive wine list with a particularly extensive array of Italian wines. Among the only disappointments in the food was an extremely small serving of the coconut shrimp appetizer (3 pieces for a party of 5 - we should have been warned); fortunately portions for all other dishes (appetizers, entrees and desserts) were generous. All 5 of us took food home from the entrees. Would unhesitatingly return. Certainly successfully competes with New Haven’s other fine-dining Italian restaurants.
