Vernick Fish presents Philadelphia’s own, Chef Greg Vernick’s exploration beyond the boundaries of a seafood restaurant. His ingredient-driven cooking style, paired with a love for global flavors, results in an inventive menu of fish and shellfish dishes, and a range of vegetable preparations. Taking a detailed, seasonal, and sustainable approach with small and large plate offerings, the kitchen brings new life to the favorite hallmarks of American oyster bar fare and raw bar. Complementing the experience are well-crafted cocktails, and a focused wine list of seafood-friendly white and sparkling offerings, as well as light, fresh reds.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Greg Vernick and CDC David Paterniti

From the OpenTable editors: Sleek interiors meet thoughtful service at this celebratory Logan Square seafood spot. James Beard Award-winning chef Greg Vernick walks the line between innovative and nostalgic with dishes like sardines on sourdough toast and grilled scallops that are masterclasses in careful sourcing and precise preparation, but also wipe-your-plate-clean delicious. If you’re toasting to something special, get one of the hard-to-find spirits or wines from the top-notch drinks program.

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Philadelphia. There is an incredible freshness to every dish, and you leave feeling so good - full but still light. The dishes are seasoned perfectly, and the fish itself shines while all the accompaniments complement the protein beautifully. The cavatelli was the best pasta dish I’ve ever eaten, and I’m actively trying to figure out how I could make the sauce at home. Beautiful 10/10

It was okay. I expected more. Training focus for service and frankly the food was okay. Not exceptional. Lighting was very off. There are no window covering to the exterior. 40+ for each entree is not worth it. A confused space

The food was excellent - the tuna tartare was in my list of memorable things I have eaten and we go out quite a bit. The drinks are fantastic and generous. Do not miss the copilot. We felt a bit abandoned by our server since it took a while to even take a drink order. Once things were ordered, they came very promptly though, but it did take a while to actually get a drink in as well as appetizer order for meals. Our server was not friendly at all to us. Anyone bringing us food was delightful, but honestly, the server didn’t even pretend to like us and seemed haughty. We were a good ticket table for a party of three (drinks, oysters, special appetizers, apps, dinner, desserts) and weren’t demanding in any way.The recommendation for the salmon crudo appetizer was disappointing and we’re so grateful that we decided to also order the tuna since it was outstanding. That, of course, the subject to personal taste, but surprising. Same with him recommending the chocolate cake for dessert. The cake would’ve been quite good, had it been at room temperature but it lacked the creaminess due to it not being out long enough. It was not the server’s involvement was the cold, additonally, I do not understand why restaurants insist on serving cold bread with my first piece seeming like it just came out of a refrigerator. No one Earth doesn’t like warm bread and the bread was excellent so the temperature took away from the experience. In fact, we were quite hungry when we sat down and when my adult son asked, after waiting a long while for someone to come to the table after the server asked us about water, my son asked if they would be bringing bread to the table and he snidely responded., “Yes, after I come back for your drink order.”. Clearly the response should’ve been it’ll be coming, but let me have it delivered early and that would’ve made all the difference. We would strongly recommend, even though the server left a bad taste in our mouths.

First real disappointing dinner in center city. Food was tasty but portions were small and the cost was outrageous. I guess you can get away with that kind of pricing at the 4 seasons landscaping site because people are more interested in being seen spending money. Service was mediocre and did not justify $13 beers nor a $50 pasta dish. It was nice that they comp’d the second pasta dish because it came out late, but a truffle pasta dish shouldn’t be $50. Will not return.

We came to Vernick Fish to celebrate our eleventh wedding anniversary. Our experience was wonderful, the food was delicious and we had the most wonderful server Erica. She took great care of us and was very thoughtful dealing with my tree nut allergy.

Delicious food but prices have shot up from one year ago. Too expensive now. Searching for alternatives. Thanks Vernick Fish - nice while it lasted.
