Once upon a time an Italian guy proud to be from Emilia-Romagna region, up-north Italy, the region where the home-made egg pasta was originally invented, decided to create a whole restaurant using every single product, pasta recipe, beer and wine that come maniacally and exclusively from his region.
Covering the typical fresh pasta dishes from each Emilian city hand-made in front of you and following the original Grandma’s own recipe and maintaining an outstanding value.
Also Launching the real Gnocco Fritto in London, the typical gently-fried bread to enjoy with meat&cheese.
Offering just 40 covers, Via Emilia is intimate yet light and airy with its traditional white marble and dark stained wood. At 5 minutes walk from Old Street station and 10 from Liverpool Street

The food is delicious, I mostly enjoyed the starters, the fried bread is to die for! I really enjoy that they specialise in a specific region in Italy so the menu is compact and not overwhelming. The Lambrusco wine is delightful and definitely unexpected. The servers are knowledgeable and helpful and the meal was reasonably priced especially for that area of London.

If you want to do a big group dinner with delicious, shareable food without breaking the bank, this is my TOP recommendation in London. We did the tasting menu (not required but suggested for big groups) for my 10 person birthday dinner, and it was a ton of great food for a super reasonable price. The pastas were all excellent, the recommended wine was interesting in the best way, and the Gnocco Frito bread was some of the best I’ve ever had. The restaurant was modern but not too fancy. The ambiance was overall really great, and it was made only better by the lovely staff. Since being in London, this meal was probably the best experience I’ve had with restaurant staff. They were so kind and accommodating.

Sorry slightly below 3.5 for me. The staff are absolutely nice and wonderful, but the food is quite average. The menu isn’t exciting enough. The space is cramped and stressful. Meat mix is nice. From neck to leg, Parma to prosciutto :3 The sausage has a beautiful black pepper aroma. And all of them are tasty, although I’d like to know more about the producer — in comparison with supermarket packs. The #9 anolen in brod is lovely like pork dumplings. The chicken soup is heart warming. I chose this one because it’s less common. It does appear more similar to pelmani. The pork, ham, and cheese filling is a cute mixture of tender meat, umami, spices, and melting cheese. My friend’s classsic bolognese ragu is also nice. Both pastas are al dente, although slightly lacking springiness other than the firmness. I’ve had better ones… The smaller portion is helpful for sampling, but still too big for a tapas style “pasta flight” across the region. With the meat starter, two pasta dishes are more than enough for us, and we had to skip the bread too. Tiramisu tastes good but personally I’d prefer it to be more moist. More soak the ladyfingers in more coffee and beat the mascarpone to a fluffier texture. Environment: Small space with small tables. The small space fits 50 people and can be difficult to get around. Cold wind comes in with customers. The staff are friendly and patient. It’s interesting to drop by if you happen to be around (reservation is recommended), but there really isn’t anything for me to come back to.
