Had dinner before going to the theatre. Cocktails were tasty, and the wine list adequate. Our server was friendly and attentive. Fresh bread was a big plus and tasty, but the olive oil it was served with was rather bitter. Dinner was well prepared. I had chicken, my wife fish. Everything is ala carte, so we also had the mushrooms and broccolini. Broccolini was very well done. The mushrooms were innovative served with onions and a vinegar sauce. All together the mushrooms worked, but you absolutely needed the sweet onion to counter the bitter of the vinegar. Not a bad meal at all, but also nothing that knocked our socks off.

They ran out of pancakes at 9am on a Sunday for breakfast and didn’t have any comparable alternative. Service was lacking yet they charged an automatic 18% gratuity.

The calamari and zucchini appetizer was excellent. As was my ocean trout. I asked for the mushrooms to be warmed and they were enjoyed by all. We were early and the noise level was low and thoroughly enjoyed for conversation. Thank you and to our server! She was exceptional.

A little noisy but worth it for the great pasta dishes. Service was good and overall we were very pleased.

We so enjoyed our experience at Via Sophia. I asked about a wine (never heard of it before) and was offered a sample by our kind server. It was delicious and we purchased the bottle! Our appetizers (antipasta) were fantastic, as were the pasta dishes. They also accommodated a small request I made. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in DC.
