We had a glorious dinner in a glorious setting. The service was exceptional and not fussy or pretentious. The food was gorgeously presented, tasty in surprising ways and varied. Not pretending to be a food critic I simply say that it was a glorious night of eating fine food and drinking reasonably priced food.

How do you make the best use of the best restaurant venue in London? Not this way. This is the latest iteration of genre dining as an answer. Completely different from the previous one. We now have Michelin fine(ish) dining. Tim Hayward in the Financial Times loved it. And he's one of our best restaurant critics. Me? I'm just an ordinary eater. I was disappointed. It's all mouth experiences and variations on a theme- take a tomato or a grapefruit and turn them into a sorbet, a meringue, a reduction. Looks lovely. For nanoseconds it tastes different. Yes, sometimes delightful but satisfying???? Can work with amuse-bouches, starters and puddings. Not with mains. What they did to the undersized portion of turbot was criminal. If you want to have fun, try it. If you are not hungry, try it. If you want to marvel at the architecture, try it. If you just want a good lunch, think again.

Traveller, if you are looking for El Dorado, stop. You have found it. Delicious, inventive, inspired! Well worth the price. Friendly service without being intrusive.

My wife was given a similar but wrong coat at the end of the evening. We have been following up, but clearly the management don’t seem to care and are not checking with the other diners that evening.

We told them we don't eat meat and ordered a fish dish. But when it arrived there was meat ravioli on the plate. They took the plate away and simply removed it without offering any alternative. Was left feeling hungry.

We were three foodies with two bottles of our own wine (at £50 corkage each) and supper ended up costing us £1,100 despite going for the advertised £125 tasting menu. We did order some very good wine extra but overall the bill was too high given the good but not exceptional food. I’d been led to believe this was some of the most delicious food in Britain, it was not. Nice room though.

Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, but we were given a complimentary glass of champagne to have in the bar which was absolutely fine. The staff were fantastic, really informative and knowledgeable but also fun and dynamic. Had one of the best martinis I’ve ever had in my life, highly recommend. The tasting menu was delicious, especially the sashimi and the lamb dishes. I really liked the acoustics, it was busy but not loud so you could hear the diner with you.

Outstanding cooking with the level of detail and imagination executed masterfully. Surprising little flavour-bombs on every plate. Service was exemplary, attentive and informative but not stuffy and overblown. Pitch perfect.
