   We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Victor’s. My mother-in-law is hard of hearing so a lot of times dining out isn’t enjoyable for her as the noise level of the restaurant is either too much for her to talk over or it overwhelms her hearing aids. However, this was not an issue at Victor’s. The environment was elegant and very lovely. And the food was delicious too. Thank you!

   Walked into Victor’s promptly at 5pm for my reservation was for that time and was stricken by the beauty of the interior of the place which was a far cry from its humble entrance on Hudson Alley. I was not immediately greeted, in fact I waited about 5 minutes for the Maitre’d to noice me presence. Our party of 5 was seated in a nicely appointed leather cushion booth which was circular - ideal for us because it reduced the chance of acquiring whiplash during conversation. Peyton - our server - was superb! She was attentive without being intrusive, and offered excellent menu suggestions. She was a bright spot in that experience so if you are lucky enough to have her as your server, you can rest assured your experience will be a fabulous one! Around the table was a strong desire for beef as 4/5 ordered steak/prime rib. Tender, juicy and flavorful were the consistent accolades offered regarding our mains, with a healthy portion of vegetables and starch with each. I’ll admit as will most at the table that my steak was prepared just as requested, medium rare. However the Filet ordered by one of our party was ordered prepared at the same temperature but was served medium well to well depending on from which is one ate from (left or right). The individual chose not to send back her filet since we were on a schedule. Regarding the ambience, there were a few screams of joy and howls of laughter eminating from the balcony dining area which were slightly obnoxious considering the caliber of the restaurant, but then not everyone has had training in proper dining etiquette. All considered, I will likely return for another meal, hoping all the while Peyton will be available to serve!

   Some of our plates were very tasty but my Halibut was overcooked and dry and even with the grits and sauce had no taste whatsoever. Since our server disappeared I had to go ask for salt to give it some taste and ketchup also for my sons fries again since she was nowhere to be found. The server, Allison, appeared to care less about her work or our dining experience. I noticed that other servers were friendly and engaged the customers but this girl had no interest in being friendly or attentive. When I went to look for her to pay the bill she was vaping at the bar. Such an upscale restauarant should have better servers. I heard that she is friends with the manager though so there is some nepotism involved in keeping her.

   Our server, Peyton was excellent. We ordered the pork chops and each of us substituted the sides with other sides. The pork chop was delicious. The side dishes came out cold so they brought us new side dishes, which came basically at the end of our meal and the mashed potatoes were lukewarm. So the side dishes they brought us were hardly touched because it was the end of the meal on top of that. They charge us two dollars extra per side dish. We’ll have to rethink about going back again.

   This was our first time eating at Victor’s. The server was very attentive from the time that we sat down. We ordered our cocktails and appetizers and they came out in a timely fashion. We ordered our dinner and the only thing is that my filet was overcooked. Our waiter came over and quickly replaced my meal with a whole other meal, which is what any restaurant should do. I was very grateful and my new plate was just how I ordered it. I gave Victor’s 5 stars all the way because everything was wonderful….sometimes mistakes happen, they did the right thing and everyone loved their meal. We would definitely recommend Victor’s. We will be back.

    First time here. Loved everything, the drinks, the service, the food. Was surprised with how great it was since it’s at the end of an alley. Definitely recommend this place.
