Booked a table for Sunday lunch at 2PM. Arrived promptly, waited a few minutes to be seated and were then given menus and told to help ourselves to the starters table and someone would be over to take our drinks order promptly. The starters table had very little both in the variety and quantity of food; but we still were able to find some ‘leftovers’. Returning to our table, ten minutes passed and we had to get the attention of a staff member to take our drinks order. Following service of the drinks, we were asked for our meal selections. As it was Sunday, we ordered the Sunday roast only to be told that there was no roast of any description left. This information would have been pertinent before we sat down and ordered drinks. As it was, there was nothing else on the menu which we found appetising and so we paid for our drinks. The mini ‘graze’ starters which we snacked on were given to us complimentary. My best guess is that there is no chargeable option on the till for the starters table only. The noise level was quite loud but there was a football match on, and the bar area is directly adjacent to the dining room so I can’t critique the village harshly for that. Just not a great experience.

The service we had from Joe was outstanding. He was very attentive and helpful. We had 2 children under 18 months and this was no problem. The food was tasty but could have been hotter. Also need to cover the starters and puddings set out as there were quite a lot of little black flies flying around . The chef was very friendly and obliging. We will definitely be back.

Great for Saturday lunch. Good sports coverage. Somethings happened to the burgers. Were good on previous visit. Fish and CIOs were good. Staff were friendly, service levels weren’t great. Will visit again.

Food was outstanding and the range of items from starters through to dessert was fantastic. Waiter service was exceptional, very attentive without being always in your face. If I had to put any negative it would be the chef was not around much for carving which was a shame, more thought needs to be put into that side of things.

food was terrible. Waiter was excellent. Room was quite cold. Kids eat free and I’m a member so got 25% off. Wouldn’t visit again for the Sunday lunch, service by joe ( I think) was best service ive seen in a long time. The regular menu is fine, not great quality, but a vast improvement on the Sunday lunch

Staff not attentive and very inexperienced. We’re seated and then left with no explanation of how we got our food and no drinks order taken. Several occasions had to go look for staff for drinks, explanations and our bill! Starters and deserts were covered in fruit flies. Over all if the service was up to scratch and the food was edible think this is a good idea and value for money.

Pretty poor, afternoon tea not worth the value full price (£17.50 pp) and not worth the itison price either (£21 for 2). Service poor, tried to call few days before to check booking no answer at all. On the day the restaurant was fairly quiet but barely a member of staff on hand. Menu not expected afternoon tea style and waitress did provide alternative but didnt listen to food allergies and therefore the replacements werent eaten. Food bland and not what we expected from 4* hotel in Edinburgh. Overall disappointing and wouldnt recommend.

Walked in to be left standing about as staff went about with setting up jobs. Found two staff who kept insisting “nuhin was booked” told them it was just a table for 8 no set menus which they kept mentioning. Again left standing in the empty restaurant as they went to find someone else. They sat us at the afternoon tea set up then asked us to move after about 5 minutes of being sat there when we said again we weren’t in for that. Took us about 20 min and talking to 4 staff to get to the point of ordering drinks, once they were ordered from the bar a drink was forgotten and had to be ordered again after 15 min. Food came pretty quick and for the most part was good. Ordered plain toast with poached eggs and this came with avocado on it, not a huge deal but wasn’t what was ordered. However a chicken Caesar salad came without the chicken. After telling the staff it took the best part of 25 minutes for a whole grilled breast to come to the table with muttered apologies. As part of the apology a voucher for a free coffee from Starbucks was given, the person wasn’t drinking coffee. After we had finished we sat there with dirty glasses and plates in front of us for about 30 min. In that time I watched the staff serve meals to and clear the only other two tables around us. We decided against desserts at this point and left. Genuinely just got the impression we were an inconvenience from the start, maybe as we were the first table in but definitely won’t be back anytime soon.
