   My friends and I decided to check out Whiskey Cake for our Christmas dinner since we were curious about it. This place claims to be “sustainable,” with everything made fresh on-site. The vibe was nice, with soft lighting that created a chill atmosphere, and the tables were decorated with repurposed materials. It did get a bit noisy since a lot of folks were having a great time, but hey, it was a Friday night during the holiday season, so it was all good. As for the food, it was pretty average. Two of my friends ordered Rigatoni, which was less creamy than what we usually enjoy. Another friend had a salad with chicken that looked tasty, and I went for the Fondue Burger, cooked “medium” as recommended by the chef. I wasn’t really wowed by the burger since it was a bit bland. The fries were just okay, but I did enjoy the ketchup. The service was friendly and attentive, which was nice. Prices were pretty standard for entrees around St. John’s Town Center, though some items felt a bit overpriced. They do have a Happy Hour with half-price bar snacks and cocktails until 6 PM, which is a nice deal. Dessert: I was impressed with their signature “Whiskey Cake” which was bread pudding with Irish whiskey. Not too sweet & flavor was on spot. All in all, it’s worth a visit if you’re curious about the place or just looking for a spot to hang out with friends.

   The decor of Whiskey Cake is amazing along with the service. Shrimp and grits had amazing flavor.

   First visit and won’t be our last. Ambience is great. Ashley our server was really good as were the bartenders and hostesses. Food was decent. We had a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed their meals. Thank you for a fun evening.

   Our group dined for lunch today. The hostess staff was very accommodating. In making the reservation, we had specifically asked for a standard table because of 1 elderly member in our group. The staff had us set up for a high top table which they quickly adjusted to a standard table. Our server was very soft-spoken so it was sometimes difficult to hear her. She was prompt in bringing drinks and taking our orders. Everyone ordered something different - a pasta dish ( creamy and lunch portion), the spinach and chicken salad (large and very good), the chicken melt with fries (messy but again, large portions and very good), and two had the vegetarian shepherd's pie which was served in a cast iron skillet. One was very hot and steamy but the other was barely luke warm. After sending it back, it was very steamy, tasty and filling. The new concept for this location (formerly Ida Claire's and Mimi's) is interesting and will likely be popular with the attractive bar. Our group did not order any "adult beverages" for lunch. Overall, it was a pleasant lunch.

    We had brunch and it was absolutely delicious 😋 We had to try the mimosa flights and the bourbon flights. They were very tasty and delicious.
