About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Dog-friendly
  • Neighbourhood gem
Our bar and pub menus have all been crafted around local produce from Norfolk.

Like the seasons, menus at the White Horse Holme change to reflect the fresh ingredients that our fishermen, farmers and suppliers catch, grow and produce for us.

Our menu is designed to be shared amongst friends or ordered for individuals. We recommend a side dish with our large plates. Dishes suitable for sharing are indicated on the menu.

Dogs are welcome in our bar and dining area.
We welcome walk ins in our bar and restaurant as well as on our heated decking area outside.

Really disappointing! I had been so excited to book a table for Sunday lunch after the new renovations and seeing all the wonderful pictures on social media. Unfortunately I was left very underwhelmed. The waitress forgot to put our drinks orders through, so after we had revived starters I asked if they were on their way. We did receive them shortly after, but they were wrong. They didn't get remade. Our main course was ready the second we finished our starters, however when it came out everything was cold. How long had it been sitting there? They also forgot the cauliflower cheese we ordered. The roast was terrible - cold, the beef was grey and overcooked, raw green beans and under seasoned boiled cabbage. The Yorkshire pudding was nice, but the worst part? Not even a whole potato. Three roast potatoes that were a quarter each. For £25. Not one member of staff came to do a check back whilst we were eating, and when our plates were cleared we weren’t asked how our meal was. Service was just as disappointing as the food and unfortunately I would not be return again.

What have they done to the place? Less than 2years ago on our last visit the bar and garden were very busy, last night (Saturday) 7.30pm, Half Term week, a hot day, the garden was almost empty as was the bar. The restaurant appeared to be fully booked. Disappointing menu in our opinion. Over priced, small portions requiring sides to be purchase ie chips and Vegetables. £14 for a basic cheeseburger, served on a tea plate isn't value for money. Add the cost of the chips (6 to 8 max!) at £4.50 then it is a very expensive burger. If I was running a pub/restaurant I would be very disappointed to have a bar that was almost empty on a Saturday night. Sadly, we won't eat there again when we are back in the area.

The White Horse has always been a favourite of ours but post the renovation / change of management it’s really not the same. The decor is an improvement and service is good but the menu is very limited and disappointing. The quality of the food is good / tasty but the portions are now very small and you have to add sides to complete the dish. We don’t mind paying for a quality dining experience but this is now expensive for what you get and too limited in choice. We really hope that changes are made but until that time we won’t be back.

Food was nice; not the best I’ve eaten in Norfolk. Sunday roast at £25 seems a little expensive considering there was not so much variety included. Outside areas very nice, indoors some tables feel a little squeezed in.

First time we've been to the White Horse after being recommended by a friend. Typical pub with character and lots of space inside. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to any food allergies we had. The menu was fairly comprehensive to suit all needs. The food itself was good although you had to pay extra for vegetables and anything else which I thought was unusual. My only complaint was that I thought it was expensive for what it was and wouldn't go back on a regular basis.

The quality of food was poor and pricey. The food did not seem fresh and I had to return one of my fish courses and was only able to eat a little of my second course. The outside seating is nice for a drink. I would not go back to eat until I know they have better reviews for food menu.
