About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Dog-friendly
  • Neighbourhood gem
Our bar and pub menus have all been crafted around local produce from Norfolk.

Like the seasons, menus at the White Horse Holme change to reflect the fresh ingredients that our fishermen, farmers and suppliers catch, grow and produce for us.

Our menu is designed to be shared amongst friends or ordered for individuals. We recommend a side dish with our large plates. Dishes suitable for sharing are indicated on the menu.

Dogs are welcome in our bar and dining area.
We welcome walk ins in our bar and restaurant as well as on our heated decking area outside.

First time visiting here and the outdoors had a warm welcoming feel and the interior was good also. We we`re sat at a table and told it does wobble a bit, the top was not actual fixed correctly to the base, not a good start. We we`re not shown the specials board, which we later saw other customers being shown, so ordered off the standard menu which had a few options on, but 2 of which are sharing options so maybe only 4-5 other items to choose from. My husband ordered the beefburger which it turns out is only a beefburger you have to order all sides, except for fish & chips, which we personally found strange thing to do for all the menu options. The burger, which was bit overcooked, is served on a small side plate with your fries in a separate pot, but you have no option to tip your fries onto the plate and the side plate makes the burger look more like a small item rather than a main evening meal. I ordered the whole plaice which was good and Norfolk peer potatoes which I expected boiled but turned up roasted, the menu does not state this. I noted others placed orders for oysters only to be told later they were sold out at, then the fish & chips was taken off the specials as sold out, not great for early evening on a Friday. Another diner had king prawns, but no finger bowl or spare plate for shells, which is fairly basic service I feel. It has loads of potential but there is a large amount of options for eating out in the area and to stay at the top you have to offer the full service and people eat with their eyes and getting food in small pots/ bowls/ plates with no actual dining plate does not give the feel of a evening meal.

Lovely evening. Well looked after. Only reason or 5* is because Lamb Chops overcooked and there was a disturbance in the bar due to a drunk guest . He was dealt with by the staff very well but probably should never have been allowed in in first place . Shame as otherwise lovely evening at not really the staff’s fault. Certainly would not put us off going back again.

If you don't want food and drink that is totally 'overpriced' and is not value for money, go somewhere else!

The White Horse Holme is incredibly friendly, and it has a lovely warm ambience. My Gnocchi was absolutely delicious - and overall the food was excellent. We had some delicious red wine but sadly I can't tell you what it is because the wine list isn't on the website. We ate with fabulous friends and had an extremely convivial evening.

Silly little things that put right would warrant high prices, Pork t- bone sliced for you but slightly over cooked so when cut makes it dry and with rind (NOT CRACKLING) served on side ?? no jus asked for apple sauce none available, house greens with walnuts butter, no walnuts so replaced with almonds i cant eat almonds, special of the day seabass at £26 ok but had to order pot/veg £9 expensive one feels even for norfolk

A good atmosphere and friendly staff but a slightly pretentious menu. Food flavours were good but portions were small for the price charged. Adding 10% on the bill for gratuity without mentioning it was not good enough. Overall pleasant but not exceptional.

Had a lovely evening meal with family. Food was delicious. Felt the restaurant could do with some low level music as it was quiet. Will definitely visit again to sit in the garden longer.
