   We took our friend out for her birthday. Ended up being dine downtown and we ended up eating that menu. Food was great. Everything so good. Great service and loved watching all the people walking around on J st. Will definitely go back

   My partner and I tried Willow for the first time for Dine Downtown Sacramento. We had a reservation and were seated immediately, but then not greeted or given water by our server (the same person to seat us) for over 10 min. By the time they arrived we were ready to order both food and beverages. Our appetizers came out rather promptly, before either water or our bar drinks were served. The food runner noticed we didn’t have anything to drink, so went to get us water. Our server only then noticed we didn’t have beverages yet and went to retrieve our sparkling water (which is what we had originally requested) though at this point I was fine with the still, just wanted something to drink. It then took about 30 mins after our appetizers were served to receive our entrees. We then waited another 30 mins for our premade desserts to be served. The food was good, nothing too special, but the lack of service received made it not worth it. The restaurant was not overly busy, nor was our server without support. For the price paid and time spent, I expected more. We will not be returning.

   The appetizer and the salad was delicious, but the entrees were quite salty. We were there for the Dine Downtown event and they were vastly understaffed. We ordered a second round of drinks to have with dinner and they arrived when we were well into delivery. It was also very clear that our server, who was great, was not prepped in advance about any limitations or shortages. We ordered a dessert from the limited price-fixe menu, which she took, but then had to come back after the fact to tell us that they were out. We were the first guests of the night so it was not a supply and demand issue. It was certainly not her fault, but we felt bad she had to come back and deliver the news after the fact. The same happened when we ordered another one of the appetizers because it was so delicious. She took the order, then had to come back and tell us we could not order anything ala cart from the special menu. She should have been better prepped. We witnessed another couple also not receive the drinks they ordered to “have before dinner”. I could sense their frustration. We won’t rule out this place in the future, but maybe just for a quick drink and appetizer at the bar only.

   We tried this place during Dine Downtown week and we had a great experience! They were able to seat us comfortably with our toddler and baby in the stroller. Service and food was great! Glad we had the chance to try it out this week!

   Absolutely delicious food, the options for NYE fixed meal were amazing and staff is incredibly kind and attentive.

   Food was OK. Fresh house made focaccia was sent back for being collapsed and raw in the middle. Octopus starter was tough, and the French skinned chicken was not rendered. Crispy on the outside but thick and chewy skin on the inside. Wife’s salmon was cooked well and she enjoyed it. Might come back for another try.

   Willow is always a good choice with great food. We wanted a quiet venue for an early lunch and this place was perfect! Thank you Willow!
