Great dining experience. The ambiance is fun. The building was a Catholic girls school with a long history. Closed awhile ago and has been resurrected as a top notch restaurant. My wife and I both noted the great job done to keep some of the impressive architecture and icons while modernizing the overall look. We sat in the mezzanine (choir) and had a phenomenal view of the place. We started with cocktails and were very impressed with the offering. I had a gin based drink flavored with barsol pisco and raspberry, while my wife had a bourbon, rum, honey, and grapefruit flavored drink. We'd recommend both. Food was top notched and rather innovative. We started with a chicken liver pate that was then fried and served with an onion jam and waffles. Highly recommend. Entrees were short ribs for my wife and prime rib for myself. Both done perfectly. Sides are separate (ala carte). We had mac-n-cheese which was top notch as well as broccoli which was paired with pesto, absolutely worth trying. Service was prompt, professional, and engaging. Our waiter Ben was the quintessential professional. They have a sommelier, Steve, who was able to recommend an Oregon pinot noir that paired very well. Only watch out is the outing will be pricy. Special occasions seem to be the vibe. Overall, top notch. We will be back as the experience was gratifying.

First time at Wye Oak. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table - drinks were excellent and the bar tender was first rate. Service in the restaurant was top notch and the food was absolutely delicious. One of the appetizers we had was the roasted beet dish - fantastic! I had the filet and it was cooked perfectly (although it tasted like maybe they used liquid smoke and overdid it a little bit). My wife had the salmon and thought it was great as well. We didn’t have room for dessert but plan to return, maybe spend the night and just have dessert and drinks at the bar.

Tried Wye Oak Tavern tonight after eating at Voltaggio restaurants for many years. Really wanted to like this place. Food was good and some cases great but the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed and service was disjoint at best. Expectations were high but sadly fell well short.

My husband and I had a fantastic date night here on a Monday night. The star of the show was the 16 oz ribeye with chimichurri sauce. The steak was cooked a perfect medium and juicy and tender with lots of good flavor! All good was well seasoned and flavorful. Other food we enjoy were the shrimp and grits, burger (smashed with smokey cheese) and side of broccoli with a different texture chimichurri sauce. The cocktail list was extensive and we tried kiss from a rose, The in Crowd, yacht rock and hat trick. This cocktail tour was awesome! My hubs had 3 glasses of kiss from a rose! The service was exceptional. Our server Ashley was attentive and so sweet! Come to fine out they had only been open for a month! But you would never know because everything was on point. I highly recommend this place for a night out! We will definitely be back here!

Absolutely unique and creative dishes. The best pastrami (which isn’t pastrami at all!) was incredible. And the atmosphere is amazing!

The ham app: the rolls were dry and the whole app had very little flavor. Beautiful restaurant unfortunately the food was just okay. Price did not match the just “ok”food quality.

I really enjoyed the ambience of Wye Oak Tavern. The drinks are 5 stars, especially the martinis. My steak was excellent. I loved the Brussels sprouts. I’m a fan of Bryan Voltaggio and it was fun to see him walk through the restaurant! I will definitely go back.

Overall great experience, we were seated on time, the space was accommodating, someone came to the table in short order to take drink orders. The food menu was somewhat limited but covered all the bases. Our appetizer was excellent, the main course of swordfish and NY Strip were very good. The warm chocolate chip cookie was fabulous. We stayed in the hotel where the restaurant was, which made the walk home perfect.

OK, we really did want to like this and overall, we really did. It’s beautiful inside. I know some people have issues with the bar area, but it THEIR issues. I thought it was beautiful and comforting and enfolding . The service was outstanding. You wanted for nothing. Now let’s talk food… We had the seafood combination for an appetizer which everyone really loved and the presentation was nice. For my entree I had pork. I hate to say this, but it was so tough. It needed brined. I know Brian Voltaigio should know this so I don’t know why it was not done. It’s no big deal to put X amount of chops in a brine, put it in the walk-in refrigerator for 12 hours or so and have fabulous flavor. The rub (?) was really good, and the grits that came with. Also very good as well were the sweet potato little towers. But come on, let’s not be lazy. Let’s brine our pork. Also my husband thought the steak was chewy. Probably another missed step in prep. I’m saying it’s because I’m hoping that they read it and they make changes. Otherwise it was a fabulous experience and I’m gonna give them another chance when I get back into Frederick.
