John Ls’ Wine Cellar is not only well stocked with vintages to complement any meal in the Ranch House Restaurant and Saloon, it’s also an intimate and elegant private dining room with a bit of history built right in. In the room, the beautiful cherry wine racks and beams were crafted from 150-year-old cherry trees harvested on the owner’s family land in Adirondack Park in New York. Known hereabouts as John Ls’ Wine Cellar, it’s named in memory of two family members. To get to the wine cellar dining room, you have to pass through the Barrel, a hand-crafted wine uncorking room (for up to 16 people), where you can socialize before your dinner in the Cellar.

Join us for an evening filled with exquisite wines and amazing cuisine with the Staglin wine family. The Staglin Family Vineyard has a 130 year heritage of viticulture and a rich social history based on an extraordinary procession of owners through multiple generations. Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, the Staglin Family Vineyard is a historic estate where tradition, innovation, and nature converge to create extraordinary wines. For over four decades, the Staglin family has been dedicated to crafting wines that express the distinctive character of their organically farmed, 61-acre Rutherford vineyard. Benefiting from sun-drenched days, cool evenings, and meticulous care, the estate’s terroir produces wines of remarkable quality. Surrounded by scenic beauty and rich history, Staglin Family Vineyard embodies a legacy of excellence and a commitment to making a difference in the world, one bottle at a time. Underground Production Facility Completed in 2002, their 24,000 square foot underground production facility is customized to enhance the unique characteristics of this vineyard. Situated under a steep hillside overlooking the vines, the winery’s underground construction minimizes its impact on the local ecosystem. The old oak trees on the hillside are unharmed by the caves deep beneath them. These modern caves provide naturally gentle storage conditions with a cool constant temperature and mild humidity. We use less electricity to cool the winery and lose less wine to evaporation. Certified Organic Vineyard Situated at the base of the western slopes of Mount St. John, the tallest mountain in the Mayacamas Range, this sixty-one acre property is located in an alluvial fan containing rich volcanic soils. With ideal soils, microclimate and location, the estate’s potential was recognized by some of the first Napa Valley settlers and was planted to vineyards in the mid 1860’s. Today the property is home to the Staglin family, fifty-one acres of vines, an underground winery, the historic homestead, a solar array and the many critters that inhabit this certified organic estate.

Beet salad wagyu ribeye center mushrooms and Brussels sprouts was the best meal I have ever had in my dining life. I have dined at many of the top rated restaurants in the US and the above listed meal tops all of them.

We tried the wagyu flight, wagyu hanger and fish- all fantastic. Truly the best steaks we have ever tasted- no sauce needed. Cooked to perfection! Yes wagyu is pricey but worth it. Esp at Devils Thimb as cattle is from their ranch. Truffle fries, brussels, drinks, dessert- all delicious. Excellent service! Overall we found it worth the price for the quality of foos and service we received.

Always enjoy the service and ambiance. The halibut, chicken and pasta were 5 stars. Oddly the 2 beef/steak dishes were only 3 stars. For the price they should have been much better.

Ranch house is a wonderful restaurant. The wagyu beef is exceptional - perhaps a bit overpriced . Service is always excellent, informed and down to earth. I had the best dessert I’ve had in 60 years- definitely in the top 10. Sides are sometimes over seasoned but I like simplicity- don’t like too many flavors bombarding. Ambience is lively but peaceful and quiet. Ranch house is a real Treat in a beautiful place.

No appealing appetizers or sides. Caesar salad was for some reason grilled thus wilted, dressing was flavorless. Ordered $198 wagyu steak and the chef couldn’t cook it to desired temp. First time was under, second time was over. For some reason they still sent it out though. Fries came out floppy like wet noodles. Server removed the fries from the bill but did nothing for us for the poorly cooked expensive steak. She just asked if we were staying at the hotel but when we told her no she decided not to help any further. Total bummer
