Dining and libations on Capitol Square with an incredible view of the Capitol, Rare combines craft cocktails, in-house dry aged steaks and attentive service in an unabashedly old-school steak house setting. Madison's downtown steakhouse features specialty cuts dry aged in-house, like the Rib Cap and the Delmonico as well as offering more traditional cuts like our filet and our rib eye. Rare is also one of the only purveyors of A5 Wagyu in Madison.

Complimenting our steaks and entrees is a specialty cocktail list and an extensive wine list with everything from wines for a big celebration to a weekday dinner.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the Pinot noir. And I must say the best chocolate cake ever. We will definitely be back again. Thank you for making our night special.

No water or service for 10 minutes. My salad was served before my drink. My medium well pork chop had rare to uncooked sections. I could not hear the waiter. No anchovies on the Caesar salad, but that might be my false expectation. All of this for $200!!!!

Waitstaff we’re engaging, new the menu, and could turn customer comments into food and cocktail recommendations. Every bite was perfection, though I didn’t attend to my green beans while they were hot, but that’s 100% on me. I was too engrossed in my steak.

I was impressed that a simple oversight of our soups not coming out prior to the entrée resulted in two compt soups but also free dessert for the table of four. We obliged by taking 1. That is unheard of. The quality of the staff,food,ambience was 5 star. Can't wait to come back!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Our group of 4 had a wonderful dining experience. Service was excellent as we had a main server and another support person. They came buy often to fill waters and ask if we needed anything. Great menu with some unique sides. Steaks were all prepared how we ordered them. There were some wonderful wines by the glass to take note. Highly suggest this steakhouse for your next dining experience
