Rat’s Restaurant is the perfect dining destination. Named for the fabled entertaining character in Kenneth Graham’s children’s classic, The Wind in the Willows, Rat’s Restaurant is designed to give visitors the sense they have stepped into a village reminiscent of the impressionist painter Claude Monet’s beloved town of Giverny. Rustic fireplaces, country French cuisine, seasonal hand-crafted cocktails and an eclectic beer and wine list are just the beginning. Regarded as one of the most romantic and beautiful restaurants in our region, Rat’s was named Philadelphia Magazine’s “Most Romantic Restaurant. The atmosphere is definitely what you are paying for! The food was good and the service was very good. The prices were high and there was not much of a selection. What we did have we enjoyed. The carrot soup was great and the short ribs delicious! We enjoyed it very much.

Waitress was rude and dismissive; food choices were poor. Waitress said there were no mussels eft, then went to the next table 5 minutes later and said she found some! I asked, she said there were none left. My fish was dried out and had no vegetable. A side of broccoli would have been extra and had GOOSE fat on it. It was my birthday and I and my guests were treated extremely poorly, except at the bar. That waitress should be fired. I was embarrassed because I had raved to my cousins about this restaurant and they traveled an hour to get there.

Our server Nick was great and the short ribs were delicious. We had a nice time. We sat upstairs in the side room and it was very intimate.

We went to Rats expecting a upscale experience but instead felt like we were at a Disney theme park restaurant. We were seated in an upstairs room with one other couple and a table of 14 including children and infants. Our server admitted that she usually only worked at parties and didn't know the menu. The food was mediocre and overpriced. We left very disappointed.

We parked at the restaurant, spent the day at the gardens, and ended the evening with dinner at the restaurant. I highly recommend eating outside if the weather allows.

The employees were very snobby and bossy… telling us several times we couldn’t sit there or we couldn’t go that way. Our waitress, Angela was phenomenal but the rest of the staff made us feel very uncomfortable and not welcomed!!
