This is a terrific casual tavern right in the middle of many historical attractions. The service was absolutely fabulous, so very friendly! The food was delicious, very creative and very flavorful. We went for dinner as a couple after a day of sightseeing and it was very welcoming. Highly recommended!

I visited Red Owl Tavern for the first time on 11/3 and I had a great time. I ordered the chicken sandwich w/ fries. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. Our Server let us know that the kitchen was running a little behind, but we didn’t have a long wait for our food. We appreciated when the Manager stopped in to check on us. I would definitely visit again.

A great location if you are in the historic district. Not a big menu, but nice selections and my friends and I were all pleased with what we ordered. Nice ambiance.

The brunch was very, very good! We were three generations, and the staff was so solicitous of our 2-year old granddaughter. They offered a highchair and recommended dishes she might like. The food was delicious all around. The chicken in the chicken and waffles dish was SO good, just perfectly flavored and crunchy-coated, with the meat still tender inside. We appreciate the additional of tall metal planters to separate the outdoor tables from the busy sidewalk where hotel guests are loading and unloading luggage into cars, jostling for space with the usual dog walkers, tourists, and occasional panhandlers. All peaceful and shady for our party on a beautiful fall Philly day. Thank you, Red Owl!
