- CCarolvipHawaii •8 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoRoy’s is continuing to work on their menu. New items that are delicious include the shrimp appetizer and the special of the evening which was a delicious steak with little fingerling potatoes made into potato chips. The Romain salad seemed particularly fresh and wonderful last night. The salmon is a favorite of mine and it also seem to be especially good. So nice to see they are keeping up the good work .More infoRoy's Waikoloa Bar & GrillPrice: Expensive• Hawaiian Regional• Waikoloa•4.5
- TTimVancouver / British Columbia •3 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoWe were tired from touristing and arrived early for our reservation but they were able to seat us right away. Not on the patio sadly. I have no idea how you get a table there. Server was very good and attentive, and the food was great. We shared the spring rolls I had the ribs. Given it’s $32 for 6 and only $39 for 12, I went for the full rack so to have leftovers for tomorrow’s dinner (eating out in Hawaii is NOT cheap. We only go out ever 2-3 nights) My wife had the prawn spaghetti squash dish which also is a generous portion and had some leftovers No room for dessert. Fairly efficient, I think we were out of there in an hour.More infoTommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Mauna Lani, Big IslandPrice: Expensive• Hawaiian Regional• Kamuela•4.8
- TTeresaSeattle / Eastern Washington •3 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoService was attentive and wonderful. The ambience is unbearable at sunset made better by the innovative menu. We will certainly come back for more celebrations on the Big Island!More infoBrown's Beach House - The Fairmont Orchid - Kohala CoastPrice: Very Expensive• Hawaiian Regional• Kohala Coast•4.6
- KKevinSan Francisco Bay Area •6 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoCanoe House has been one of our favorites on the Island for several years. It is a perfect location for sunset dinners and an outstanding dining experience. Again, they did not disappoint. Highlights were perfectly done filet, swordfish and kampachi with garlic fried rice as a side. Wonderful flavors, well balanced, and perfect portions. Starters were corn ribs (a favorite ) and snap peas with goat cheese. Prices are at the higher end, but the value is spot on. We always try and eat here once during our trips to the island.More infoCanoeHousePrice: Very Expensive• Creative Japanese• Kamuela•4.7
Discover Big Island
Hawaii Island, also known as the Big Island, features not only some of the most beautiful beaches in the state but world-class cuisine as well. No visit to Hawaii can be complete without sampling the local specialties. Enjoy a Hawaiian poke bowl as an appetizer. The ahi poke will be made with fresh, chunked tuna marinated in soy sauce and seasoned with green onions, sea salt and other ingredients. For dinner, enjoy the ginger steamed clams served with Hawaiian chilies, sake and crispy long rice. For lighter fare, consider sampling the mahi mahi fish tacos. The grilled mahi mahi is packed with cabbage, cheese, tartar sauce and papaya salsa on a freshly-baked corn tortilla. Wash it down with a banana mango smoothie and enjoy a long walk on the Big Island’s black sands.
