Discover Outer Banks
Once home to Blackbeard, the most famous pirate in history, the Outer Banks have a fascinating history that revolves around the Atlantic Ocean. Jutting far out into the ocean, these barrier islands make a great port for deep sea fishermen. Where there are happy fishermen, there are happy diners, and the Outer Banks are a prime example. With crab shacks, grill houses and tiki bars scattered among the islands, visitors can indulge in fresh oysters, yellowfin tuna and local shrimp. Put those next to some drawn butter and hush puppies and you've got a proper North Carolina meal! After dinner, watch the sun set over the Outer Banks sound at one of the many bars and enjoy the smell of the sea.
