Executive chef: Ralph Pausina

From the OpenTable editors: Antoine’s is the county’s oldest continuously operating restaurant and a special-occasion destination for its opulent setting and elegant, French-Creole fare. Sit in one of 14 gilded dining rooms to feast on favorites like oyster Rockefeller and soufflé potatoes, both original to the restaurant. Cap the meal with a classic baked Alaska or the house chicory coffee, laced with cognac and triple sec and flamed tableside—it’s New Orleans, after all.

The “senior staff member” needs more training and should not be training the understudy waiter. Outside mediocre service, the food was excellent and I would recommend this restaurant.

....very loud regardless the fact that it was not even entirely occupied by guests (Hermes room with around 40 tables). We had to shout to understand each other. The food was soso... in detail: the Burgundy snails = very good, like in Burgundy France. The filet mignon = quite okay but simple presentation on a small plate, nothing fancy. The vegan mushroom dish ordered by my wife: honestly speaking a real thumbs down - a dish like this would not pass at all in our home country Switzerland.... but perhaps in USA it's different - my wife ordered french fries to compensate after all ! Creme brulé = ordinary. Peppermint tea = probably too exotic as an order. Ambiance and setting = a classic ! The service: a disaster in our opinion ! Around 15-20 waiters and waitresses running or walking around very often with empty hands but not seeing what's left on many tables. On the other hand almost 'over' friendly like in a Hollywood movie. A clear fact: there is a lack of a 'chef de service' who oversees the staff and who 'organises' the service. I dined in this lovely restaurant over 45 years ago and was thrilled then - now I must say it is just overrated ! I was a chef myself over decades and still own a restaurant myself so I am not a complete beginner ! I hope my 'neutral' critic does some good !

The food was good, but not exceptional like you would expect. The service was fair and certainly intermittent. Had to ask for most things like drinks, refills,… the steak was medium when ordered medium rare, and it really wasn’t hot. A bit disappointing overall given the reputation and my past experience there .
    Antoine'sResponded 3 days ago
Thanks for the feedback, Buddy! We're sorry to hear that our service did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves on our exceptional service, and we're disappointed that we fell short this time. We also acknowledge your comments about the steak and the inconsistency in our service. Your feedback is valuable, and we will work on these areas for improvement. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.

Our server Zachary was fantastic, the food was amazing, the location is amazing with plenty of rooms and seat not one room is the same feeling. I honestly cannot say enough about the oldest restaurant in the US but I will say the if you have a chance to request a server Zachary should be on top of your list, he was friendly, personable, and was attentive to every table he had.

We were hoping for something a little more intimate, but the restaurant is just too loud. Also, I must have ordered the wrong thing, as the trout was really not that good. The saving experience was the baked Alaska, very good.
    Antoine'sResponded 3 days ago

We understand that the noise level didn't meet your expectations, and we apologize. We're glad to hear you enjoyed our baked Alaska, though!
