Great food! We got the steak tips, fruits de mer with fettuccine, and the bolognese. Everything tasted great, I’d definitely return for the food. The service was really not great and they seated us in a table right by the entrance and it was freezing. It was hard to get the server’s attention and they were not the most attentive. They brought us the check before we were ready without offering dessert. They didn’t have the best attitude throughout and definitely treated the only man in our party as the head of the table and when he went to order, the waiter said « let’s allow the ladies to go first » which just felt odd. Gave him the check both times even though a woman paid and made the reservation… Espresso martini was great, but very sweet. I got a Coke and it was a small glass and they charged for a refill which was silly. $4 each so I spent $8 on Coke. Forget what the dessert was called, some sort of lava cake, it was really excellent as well.

Porcini pillows and tiramisu were very nice. The joia roll tasted wonderful but would be much more enjoyable if it was cut into 8 pieces instead of 6. Arancini special appetizer left something to be desired. The pizza was horrendous. They also turned the music up in the middle of our meal to a distracing level. It was Valentine’s Day weekend at 7pm—- seemed like someone wasn’t reading the room. The couples next to us also commented on it.

This was an extremely unsatisfactory experience. If we hadn't traveled to Boston and were without options, we would have walked out numerous times. The initial table we received was in a virtual "wind tunnel." We froze every time the door opened. We asked for a table in the actual dining room and were refused three times. Having nowhere better to go on a Saturday night, we stayed. The waiter did a good job. The food was okay at best. And the noise level made it impossible to have a conversation. All-in-all, I was extremely disappointed, and it ruined an otherwise great trip to Boston. Clearly, I'd never go back to Joia and suggest you might follow my lead. One last observation--who ever heard of an Italian restaurant that serves Sushi? That should have been a dead giveaway!

Great Food and drinks. Music was a little loud so you could not hear Conversations. The restaurant had a front door that opened up and let the cold air in.

The dining experience was exceptional, the sushi was delicious, and the chicken parmesan was tasty. The carbonara pasta was so good. Every bite was flavor able. Highly recommend this restaurant. My service was outstanding.

I hosted a business lunch for my team of 6; I wanted to try a new place instead of the usual restaurants nearby so gave Joia a shot. Overall, it was not a good experience and I won't be back. We ordered one appetizer for the table, and 6 different entrees. Everything came at once so the appetizer went uneaten. I ordered the pesto linguini which was just average. WAY too much thick pesto on the pasta, which was unfortunate. The rest of the table felt their food was just ok. Nothing special, very filling but not in a good way and overloaded with fries. The bar area was quiet as it was lunch time, but the TVs were playing soap operas. Gag. Our table was situated along a wall with bench seating. There was a wooden frame of some sort right behind our heads and the person next to me would bonk her head anytime she tried to sit back. Overall, I would not eat here again. There are local food trucks that offer a better dining experience.
