Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Bridgette Bar in Toronto dazzles with its "amazing food" and vibrant ambiance. Guests rave about the "fantastic happy hour" with half-price pizza and cocktails, and the desserts, particularly the banana pie, are "to die for." While service can be hit-or-miss, the overall experience and diverse menu make it a must-visit.

Here’s a revised version of your review with improved grammar and conciseness: I really wanted to like this place—it was on our list of new spots to try at The Well. We saw the Winterlicious menu and thought it would be a great experience, especially combined with happy hour. The hosts were fantastic and attentive. The standout staff member was a stylish man with black hair (possibly European) working the top floor—he was the only one who seemed to be working hard, managing the floor efficiently. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. It started fine—waters were dropped off, and we had time to review the menu. Emma, who introduced herself as a manager, took our order. Oddly, they didn’t seem aware we were there for Winterlicious, despite requiring pre-payment—not a huge issue, just a lack of attention to detail. We ordered food, planning to wait until happy hour for drinks. Our first course arrived, but it was the wrong dish (salmon instead of burrata). We had to flag a waiter to correct it. Once the burrata arrived, we wanted to order drinks for the happy hour deal but had to flag someone again. At this point, we felt like an inconvenience, even though it wasn’t that busy. We finally ordered drinks with another waiter just after 2 PM. Our mains arrived, but 20 minutes passed with no drinks. I flagged Emma, and she kindly offered us cava, which was appreciated. However, our water glasses had been empty for a while, and while other tables were being topped up, we seemed overlooked. We stayed for happy hour, but each drink took 15 minutes to arrive (we timed it). The last one was blamed on a “chit error,” but by then, it was hard to believe. Overall, the food was decent, and the cocktails were good—but the service delays and lack of attentiveness made the experience underwhelming.

Came for my wife’s birthday dinner. Waiter let us know that we were on his time not ours. Twice came to the table and just started loudly talking at us, cutting us off mid sentence( Drunk?). Didn’t reset the table after first course, so no utensils when mains came. Barked at us on his way past that he would be back with utensils. After mains, dropped off spoons and ran away even though he hadn’t taken desert order yet. He was clearing plates at a table while shouting his conversation across the dining room to another table. When we did get his attention to take desert order I mentioned that it was for a birthday hoping he could redeem himself. He just replied “…so you want me to stick a candle on that?” Instead of service we just belittled.

The noise level made the dining experience very uncomfortable. I couldn’t wait to leave. Good quality food and great service.

The place is spacious and beautifully laid out across three floors - mini bar with some dining tables on the first floor, a full lounge bar on the second, and a big dining hall on the third. Love how they mixed classic and modern elements - modern eclectic with some vintage touches which really work well together. Eggplant Fries - Was worried about greasiness (you know how eggplant soaks up oil) but these were great. Perfect cut size and stayed crispy instead of soggy. The yogurt dip added some refreshment. Stracciatella - Hard to see the components due to the dimmed lights, but it was basically like a yogurt spread for the focaccia, tasty but wished the quantity could have been more. Wagyu Beef Carpaccio - Really tender raw slices with a delicious sauce. The cheese garnish added some buttery richness, definitely a highlight. Chicken Sausage Pizza - Handmade pizza with a good amount of cheese and chicken sausage pieces. Loved that they kept the base thin. Service was great - efficient and friendly without being overbearing. Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 4.5/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - NA/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 4.5/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 4/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 4.5/5 OVERALL - 4.38

Went for the matinee happy hour for a friend's birthday and some of the cocktails were great. Our waiter seemed completely bored and uninterested in the rare chance we managed to flag him down. The service time after ordering a round was ridiculously long - at least a 15-20 minute wait. In the span of 1.5hrs, our second round of drinks only came at the very end at the same time as our bill after complaining, and we ended up having to chug it in a rush. Would only recommend if you're 1) not in a rush/on a tight schedule and 2) going for happy hour because this would be a 1-star review if we had paid regular price.

We had to wait for 15 minutes even though we had a reservation. But after we got a table, everything was great. The good, the service, the ambience - will definitely come back.

We went to Brigette Bar for Winterlicious lunch and happy hour pizzas. Pizzas were great. Mains were okay, a little under-seasoned. Apps and desert were good. Overall a good experience and we would go again.

This was my second time at Bridgette bar. We opted for the winterlicious menu. Though the food was good (a little bland), service was extremely slow. I had to ask to have our mains checked on, and it took me a while to flag someone down. They were very kind and apologetic and gave us an appetizer to tide us over.

Incredibly long wait times. Did not receive our drinks until after apps were delivered. The apps that were delivered were for another table and not what we ordered. We did not see our server for 27 minutes, we set a timer. It became a joke for us and the tables around us. We even asked the bus boy for assistance and no one came. Took over 45 mins to receive mains. They seemingly forgot to make our mains. Server had to go “yell at the kitchen” as he put it. Pasta was not fully cooked I assume because they rushed it. The three tables all along the windows were all talking to each other about how insane the waits were and how we hardly had service. Receipt came with a long dark brown woman’s hair on it and greasy finger prints. We are not complainers so we didn’t say anything but based on this experience I don’t think we will be able to recommend this restaurant to anyone going forward. One of the poorest dining experiences we’ve had in the city and we go out for lunch or dinner at least once a week for the past several years.

Food was great - Winterlicious menu was a good value. Service was little slow. Music was loud, I had to shout at my friend 🥲. Parked at The Well for $15, can find street parking if you’re lucky. Great location.
