Whether you come cute with your girls, make it a date with your mate, visit as a mommy-daughter duo or take time just for you, Akwaaba Tea Salon & Event Space offers 90 minutes of pure indulgence in a sophisticated sanctuary. Here’s where you can take a breath while you take a sip of fine, loose-leaf teas and experience a cultural spin on traditional English High Tea fare. Think deviled eggs with a chunk of Southern-fried chicken instead of egg salad finger sandwiches. And homemade peach cobbler and banana pudding upstage macaroons every time! Oh, and did we mention the live jazz music at our 1 pm Sunday seating?!

Akwaaba Tea Salon and Event Space is the latest hospitality experience from Monique Greenwood, the former Essence magazine editor-in-chief who took the lodging industry by storm with the 1995 launch of her award-winning Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns, one of which is in Philadelphia, right down the street from the new tea salon and event space.

          Everything about our Akwaaba experience was delightful! From the warm inviting space to the warm welcome at the door, to the thoughtful tea selection and creative food items. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more! Can’t wait to return!

          Phenomenal experience from the intimacy of the space, service with Grace and flair (we loved Ms Toni) to the tea and scones !!!! Loved the sweet and savory options. Went with a large party of 8 and they accommodated us beautifully. Prepayment and booking made the experience a breeze. Highly recommend!

          This was my first time. Always wanted to to high tea and I was not disappointed. It was a perfect way to start off my birthday celebration. Will definitely do it again

          This was one of the best tea salons I've been in. The setting is Harlem Renaissance'esque and the food is delicious 😋! My friends were amazed by the flavors and the helping sizes. The music and ambiance took you to the era of Billy Holiday and Langston Hughes. I have fallen in love with Akwaba Tea Salon, I will be back.
