Located at 243 S. Sierra St. in a building erected in 1940, specifically for a restaurant, is the home of a unique gathering place. The original address was 243 Granite St. hence the name…Old Granite Street Eatery.

With a menu that reflects a strong desire to provide familiar, comforting dishes having an emphasis on quality ingredients. Combined with constantly rotating craft beer selections, focused wine options and hand crafted cocktails, Old Granite Street Eatery looks to be a casual affordable everyday option for neighbors and community to share in great food and drink. We only reserve 1/3 of our restaurant through OpenTable in order to facilitate walk-in traffic. We also have a large communal table for sit-down service. Please included any children and infants in the total in your party for reservations.

My reservation was not honored. I made the reservation one month prior to the dinner, and there was a private party booked for that evening. I was never emailed or called to let me know I would be unable to dine there. Rough start to a special evening gathering with three friends.

The Old Granite Eatery was great as usual, but they no longer work with Open Table. Open Table still takes reservations, but the restaurant never gets them, so we showed up with no reservation as a result. There was a show at the Pioneer Center, so the restaurant was full, but they managed to fit us in anyway, which was great. Bottom line, don’t book this restaurant through Open Table, or you will get a nasty surprise!

Mostly it was good. Especially the burger! Really great burger! There were a few improvements that might help. 1) It was absolutely freezing! Everyone was wearing a coat. We did not bring a coat. We almost had to leave it was so cold. 2) I really miss the shoestring potatoes! Please bring them back! They are special and unique! 3) Maple bacon appetizer was too spicy. Go back to the old recipe.

The honey chicken sandwich was excellent (as are the sweet potato waffle fries). All the burgers our table had were also excellent (blue cheese and Mediterranean) and the side salad was robust too. The only disappointments were the fusilli bolognese pasta (not a very flavorful sauce) and the Granite pot pie (it's just a thin watery pot pie sauce on top of a thick pizza crust that is hard to pull apart, it was not a nice flakey crust pie like a pot pie should be, do not recommend this). The desserts we had were both a hit. The lemon cake was so great, not too tart, but the churros were incredible! It was a little drafty sitting next to the windows as it's an older building but has nice vintage character and excellent service.

Steak was ordered medium, served raw. Pot pie was soupy and served in some kind of pita bread instead of a crust.

The food was delicious and our server was great. The only small thing was the timing of dessert. Everything else was reasonably timed, but it took a really long time to get dessert out. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal.

We typically love this place but brunch on this day was not a “win!” Slow service, food in general was mediocre, but chicken and waffles were very good. Everything overall was lacking. Will go back to try again based on history.

This is a favorite restaurant! They have a large menu and great selection of beer, wine and cocktails. The food is awesome. The wait staff is fun and friendly and location walkable to the Pioneer Center, River Walk and downtown.
