    When Roy’s came to the scene in the 90s, we were big fans, and enjoyed many meals. Then things got worse. Our last was 8 years ago at Ko Olina. It was awful. During this stay in Waikiki, we thought it reasonable to try again, hoping that there would be a chance of improvement, especially since the number of outlets had decreased significantly. That is, the company has realized there was a need to return to quality. That was not to be. The service was great, but that did not overcome what they had to serve. Poke was mushy, salad greens were limp, and the signature butterfish was room temp, and falling apart from being in the marinade for way too long (fish should not taste of only soy). After this “second chance” we won’t be trying a Roy’s again.

    Gave us the option of outside seating because it had “better ambiance.” We were on the street side with the great view of a Denny’s restaurant. Street noise was extremely high. Not great ambiance at all.

    We asked for a table near a wall for hearing aid. We were given the perfect booth away from everyone. Our server and all helpers were professional and friendly. We had the canoe for two and shared a Caesar salad. All the food was delicious and prepared perfectly as well as beautifully. The dessert was a chocolate volcano cake. It was the best we have ever eaten. We give the experience a 20 out of 10!!

    The service was excellent but the food and drinks were lacking. For the price I was expecting a lot better. Again the service was great and our server was very helpful and pleasant.

    Overall the word terrible is the only word I can think of to describe our experience. Our server was a tall gentleman that wore a face mask, I wish I had remembered his name. He was horrible. He forgot my glasses of wine, was consistently absent from checking in our table. He asked us to pre-order desserts if we wanted anything and we did. It still took 25 minutes for the desserts to arrive. The sushi for our entire party, especially the Palala roll, was excessively salty almost to the point of being inedible. If you’re looking for a great sushi experience in Waikiki, it’s not Ray’s. Avoid!!!!!

    Great food and even better service! I had Garlic Parmesan Shrimp with Lobster Ravioli and my husband has Roy’s Misoyaki Butterfish and we both loved our meals.
