   My wife and I had not been here in quite a while. We were not disappointed. We were quickly seated and our server came to us promptly. Our salads, main entrees and sides were excellent. We will definitely be returning soon.

   Welcoming and friendly staff always checking if there is something needed. The absolute best hamburger and fries, especially at only $11 during Happy Hour. Ruth's Chris always ensures a satisfying visit.

   Hostess informed us she saw we had reservations for our anniversary dinner but a table was not ready for us because they had a large crowd and the staff was overworked. We arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation. We were lead to a table that was set for three and had no rose petals like they normally placed on there for all our previous anniversary reservations. The server wasn't aware it was anniversary or just didn't acknowledge it so it was nothing special, like a normal day out. No complimentary dessert like they normally provided in the past either. The calamari came at room temperature and had very cold diced raw bell peppers on it as if it just came out of cooler. The pieces were so small about the size of dimes or pennies at the most and were mainly breading. The pieces you did find were overcooked and rubbery like you were chewing on pencil erasers so we sent it back. The steaks came out perfect as normal and the potato casserole was good. Without the exemplary service we normally received in the past it was not worth the $230 for a steak for two. There are too many restaurants in San Antonio with perfect steaks that have a better atmosphere and service for the same or lesser price tag.

   One of our favorite places to dine close to home. Oysters Rockefeller were very good but sadly the bed of rock salt they were placed on kept interfering with the flavor. The ahi tuna was amazing, as always. My filet was a perfect med rare. I ordered it Oscar style, but unfortunately the crab was dry and there was maybe a drizzle of bearnaise sauce on my entree. My husband ordered the lamb and a lobster tail. The lamb was overcooked and heavily over seasoned. As the lobster tail was also overcooked and dry. Seemed like they sat under the heat lamp for a while. The manager came by and said she would remove the lobster from our bill, but as a former service industry person, it’s really sad that the lobster even left the kitchen. Our server was really sweet, though seemed overwhelmed at times. We still tipped 25 percent because we know and understand the obstacles of a Saturday night in the hospitality industry. And because of that we will continue to dine at Ruth Chris, but a little attention to detail is always important.

   It was vey obvious that the restaurant was understaffed. It took us an hour to get our food after placing the order. My potato was undercooked and chalky. My steak wasn’t medium rare plus, it was medium rare minus (still cold on the inside).And it had barely any flavor outside of too much black pepper. The waiter was stretched so thin that I ordered a cocktail once and was never asked again if I wanted another. We had kids with us so the long wait was definitely frustrating. This is usually a favorite spot of ours but last night they definitely missed the mark.
