The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough was set to be sold off the developers when 120 members of the community came together to invest, and save, their local. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys.

Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen.

Bowleys menus have a traditional feel and adhere to classic, English fare with a fine dining twist. There are several options to choose between including a tasting menu, set lunch, a la carte, brunch and Sunday lunch. The tasting menu is the jewel in Bowleys crown and consists of five courses, with an optional sixth.

In addition to the food, we offer a selection of fine wines, quirky cocktails, and have a collection of over 25 craft gins available.

World War I poet Siegfried Sassoon lived in Matfield and is the inspiration behind our name. Sassoon was awarded the Military Cross for "conspicuous gallantry" and later won acclaim for his writing. We're pretty sure he would have loved our food too!

Tom creates the most welcoming and enjoyable environment for indulging in outstanding food from the kitchen, and delicious wine from the cellar. Welcome to The Seaview Bar & Restaurant, a family friendly restaurant and bar which caters for all ages and occassions. Our stunning restaurant overlooks Pegwell Bay and includes alfresco dining on our sundeck terrace. We offer all day dining from an extensive menu of meat choices, fish dishes, sharing platters and delicious homemade desserts. All food is home cooked and has substantial portion sizes. Our stunning Sunday roast is served from 12pm till 4pm.
