Rancho Cucamonga
About the restaurant
Here at Shokunin we serve traditional omakase styled courses.
Omakase is a Japanese phrase that means "I'll leave it up to you”. The chef chooses the fresh fish selection daily and garnishes it into a 11 or 13 course meal. Our mission is to deliver a fine dining experience in a casual environment all at an affordable price.

As a disclaimer, we do not sell any rolls that are baked, fried, or contain eel sauce or spicy mayo. We also do not sell any kitchen items, such as teriyaki bowls.

Nestled in the canyons of Bel Air, SHU is a dining experience like no other - a fusion of Japanese, Italian and Latin flavors and influences. The menu features traditional dishes as well as signature offerings, inspired by Giacomino Drago’s love of blending Japanese, Italian and Latin cuisines. SHU’s environment is well-suited to singles, couples and families. The bar seats up to ten people and there is a special booth that seats six people. We've been going to Shu for more than a decade and they never disappoint. Lots of long time employees here and they make it a point to deliver an exceptional dining experience each and every time. We hadn't been to Shu in awhile but Leo, the head chef, didn't miss a beat in remembering what we like. We typically only eat sashimi and we trust whatever Leo decides to serve us. One of our absolute favorites is bluefin tuna with ponzu-wasabi. Some of our other favorite dishes are yellowtail with truffle, red snapper with avocado, and needle fish (not on the menu)! We often compare our sushi experiences to Shu and hands down Shu always comes out on top not just in the quality of the sushi but the overall dining experience delivered by the friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Have heard amazing things about this restaurant and finally got to try it. The staff are amazing, polite, respectful.. everything you would get in Japan. They overheard my date loving ginger and just continued to bring her ginger without ask. Sushi was amazing. All around great place. Wish I would have been sooner.

For decades, Sasabune has delivered some of the highest quality in traditional sushi. Through moves, expansions, and closures, the food is as delicious as ever. They are hard to beat for freshness and technique. And although very traditional, that does not mean boring - there is very deft use of flavor, but it is subtle, and the fish is the star of the show. Highlights: they offer both fresh and seawater eel, as well as both Santa Barbara and Hokkaido uni.
