This was our first visit to 17 and it would have received 5 stars across the board, but we were a little disappointed with our entree. We had the steak and we liked the preparation, but the actual cut seemed tough and not in line with everything else we were served. We left wishing we had ordered something else. The service was top notch; friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is just what we want for a night out. We could hear each other without competing with other noises. Our appetizers were delicious, the custom drink I had (Carolina Green) was so good. We were staying at the hotel, so we also had breakfast the next morning which was definitely a 5 star breakfast. We tried to get the secret to the chef's potato hash. We will definitely come back in the future and just not order the steak.

About the restaurant
The Farehouse is located in the heart of the historic Taylors Mill’s Dock No. 3. The mill began its life as the Southern Bleachery and Piedmont Print Works during the height of the Greenville area’s reign as the Textile Capital of the World. Closing as a mill in 1965, the building found a variety of partial uses until revitalization efforts began in the mid 2000s. While many mill revitalization projects have converted mills into condos and other residential projects, the Taylors Mill is proud to be the largest grassroots project of its kind in the upstate of South Carolina. Today the Taylors Mill seeks to facilitate craft and commerce for a new generation in the heart of Taylors, SC. The Taylors Mill is reclaiming creative community.

Our menu focuses on New York style pizza, pub-style appetizers, deli sandwiches, and dinner specials using fresh, locally-sourced meat and produce.

Frank’s Outback has 45 seats inside the building and interestingly, the patrons get to walk through the open kitchen to enter the dining room. Once inside, you sense a warm welcoming atmosphere. There are also 100 seats outside, set in a garden setting under a canopy of trees. The outdoor seats are covered and not affected by weather. In the Fall and Winter guests are warmed by infrared heaters and the large outdoor fireplace.

And the ocean provides its bounty with the incoming tide. The River House is a culinary celebration of this relationship and our professed love for the land and waters of the Lowcountry.

First rate top to bottom. Service in all aspects second to none in region anywhere outside New York. Benny was locally born, just 22 years old yet obviously well trained professional. Menu included several rarely seen in other establishments outside this area. Not inexpensive, but worth the splurge for special occasions like our anniversary tonight. Will return again and again. Well done Montage!
