What a fantastic time! It had been YEARS since we had visited Sabatino's and chose it for a 75th birthday dinner with some surprise guests flown in. I had called the restaurant a few days prior to our reservation as I wanted to make certain they were aware I had flown my grandchildren in to surprise their Pop-Pop so they would be arriving earlier than the reservation and I hoped they could be seated and not standing in the lobby. She was very accommodating and assured me they would be seated and ready. Our server was an absolute hoot - so friendly, so quick to point out how best to order and regulate the arrival of our various dishes and truly became part of the great experience we had at Sabatino's! LOVED HER!! We started with the famous Bookmaker Salad - still a great starter after all these years (And yes, we did purchase take home containers of their famous salad dressing!); fried calamari, short rib ravioli, garlic bread and mussels rounded out the appetizers. Every dish was really good! On to entrees of chicken lynn, baked gnocchi, tortellini and shrimp fre diavalo - every dish well seasoned, presented beautifully and more food than we could possibly finish. Side note: my grandson had debated between the shrimp renato and the shrimp fre diavalo - the server claimed the shrimp are diavalo was her favorite and he would now agree! A complimentary slice of cake and ice cream and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday sung by our server, fellow guests and staff made this special birthday celebration even more special! Highly recommend a visit back to one of the tried and true Baltimore restaurants - your tastebuds will thank you!

The food was excellent, the service good, but the ambiance could use a serious update.

I had a great time. I shared the fried short rib ravioli, caprese salad, and lasagna with my girlfriend. The restaurant split the lasagna into 2 plates. We were not expecting that. That is attention to detail that not every restaurant has these days. We will be returning to explore more of the menu in the future.

I’m very sad to say that Sabatino’s is no longer the restaurant it used to be. When I went to the restaurant in the 80’s and 90’s the food was excellent, definitely living up to its past reputation of awesome old school Italian. The food was always simple and fresh, well seasoned and made you feel like you were dining at your Italian grandmothers for authentic Italian dishes. But unfortunately those days are long gone. My Eggplant and Veal dish was good, but my side of gnocchi were disgusting. They tasted raw, not even boiled, and the sauce was horrible, something straight out of a can. My guests had the chicken Francese and the chicken florentine. Both were extremely under seasoned and had no flavor. Very blah and tasteless. For dessert we shared a cannoli which was good, fresh shell and filling, however the Torino and Tortufo were frozen so hard that we weren’t able to eat after waiting 10 minutes to thaw. It disappoints me to have to write this poor review as I was very excited to bring my guests to this establishment that used to be a Baltimore Little Italy icon. It is no more.

We made a reservation based on the 4&5 star reviews. We were not impressed. We had a chicken dish and a shrimp dish, they were both good, nothing special. We were in Baltimore for the weekend and had looked forward to a meal in little Italy, this was disappointing.

I remember Sabatinos from my youth in Baltimore. I return whenever I visit the city. It is consistently wonderful with classic and delicious homemade Italian dishes. I love their Bookmakers salad , long a hidden item not listed on the menu, now a popular dish. The service is old school, helpful, friendly but not obtrusive. The atmosphere is historic and cozy. It’s a delight!

Food was amazing and great portions! You just know it’s fresh Italian! This place has definitely been open for years and you can tell by the decor. Service was straightforward and there was really no extraness to it but honestly, the food made it all worth it.
