Shanghai Terrace offers Chinese cuisine highlighting contemporary interpretations of Shanghainese, Cantonese, and Sichuanese classics. A Private Dining Room is available to reserve for up to 30 guests while The Main Dining Room offers a seductive 1930’s Shanghai eatery-inspired atmosphere decorated in tones of ebony, gold and scarlet. In warmer weather, additional seating is provided on The Terrace, an urban garden with spectacular skyline views that allows diners to experience the magic of summertime in Chicago. In cooler months when The Terrace is not available, additional seating is provided in The Lobby – a soaring, majestic room with floor to ceiling windows, towering ceilings, and elegant chandeliers. Please be sure to indicate your preference when reserving your table.

Please note, last orders will be taken at 9 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Absolutely incredible experience. This was our first time dining at Shanghai Terrace and won’t be the last. Best Kung Pao I’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was great and the service was superb. I’m still thinking about dinner last night. Can’t wait to go back.

The service was top notch and the food was amazing. We ordered two dim sum (the lobster/chicken dumplings based on our server's recommendation and the pork dumpling), the peking duck for two and spicy green beans. We also split a piece of heavenly chocolate cake for dessert. Every dish was so delicious, and it was the perfect amount of food. Our cocktails were also great. Our two servers were so attentive but not overbearing, and they were friendly and approachable, too. Can't wait to go back!

It was so fun! Sat in the lobby and ordered off the Shanghai menu. And added the seasonal chocolate bar. We brought 2 kids with us. Ambiance was great bc of the piano music.

Fabulous food; ate in main restaurant. Appetisers were very special indeed; shrimp in a light mustard mayonnaise coating and the hot and sour were superb. As it’s part of the Peninsula hotel; very fancy -a great idea to visit their roof top terrace bar either before or afterwards. They even give you a blanket.

It’s unclear why lobby hotel seating is offered on a very expensive and exclusive top restaurant. It completely ruins the experience. I for sure won’t book again.
