Phenomenal place to come for the holidays. From the gentleman at the guard shack to the service at the restaurant. 5 stars. We will definitely be back.

I have eaten at San Ysidro Ranch three times, one lunch and now two Anniversary's, this time it was for our 48th Anniversary. The first Anniversary was at 47 years, it was stellar, everything about it was magical. However, last night was quite the opposite. The dinner started right on time, and we were seated within minutes. My husband ordered a wonderful Mock-tail with quite the presentation of smoke and mystery. Unfortunately that was the great part, everything else fell into disaster. First of all the guests at the table next to us were arguing, very very loudly, and I have never heard the F-bomb used so much as in every other word, mind you, staff had nothing really they could do to remedy this situation, but made it hard to converse or enjoy our evening. The ladies room had zero toilet paper and zero hand towels, I only figured this out after I sat on a wet seat that some woman already soiled with no recourse to "fix" the situation. I advised the reception, but to late for my experience. My appetizer was dry and without flavor, and the main course I absolutely could not eat. the flavors described on the menu were not the ingredients listed on the menu, I could only deduct they ran out of the ingredients as they did toilet paper. I asked politely for the wait staff to box it up, as I wanted to confirm once home my feelings about substations of the menu items, perhaps I was judging harshly because of the conflict at the next table and perhaps that it ruined my pallet. I was not wrong when tasted the next morning the dish served to me. My husbands appetizer was okay, but not up to the standards we thought it should be and the main dish was over cooked and limp (it was a fish). Desert was also a disappointment, as we tried to salvage the evening, the angry couple finely left. Unfortunately the puffed pastry was freezer burned and ruined the whole effect of the desert. So so sorry for this review, however, it ruined our 48th Anniversary.

Today was Terrible! I’ve been to Stonehouse and San Ysidro Ranch many many times. In the past it’s never disappointed. And in the past it has surpassed expectations with the excellent services and quality of food. But now as today proved to me that Stonehouse and has lost all credibility and turned into a mediocre establishment with low standards. Unlike the previous old management, now There’s no manager that is overlooking the operation. A clown show run by inexperienced servers that obviously have no experience or knowledge in high end restaurants. The way they set the plates and everything on the table as if they were hustling in a cheap Mexican eatery. Clinking and clacking the tableware. Zero refinement. The food is terrible now that they’ve lost their main chef. The food quality is terrible and the biggest issue. The Duck a L’orange dish tastes like Panda Express’ Orange Chicken and Panda Express tastes better! The Steak Diane was terrible as the meat was mushy quality. Black Cod tasted like it came from a cheap Chinese eatery. There wasn’t a single dish that qualified in the least bit. Another part of why you know the management had zero standards now because they allow Men wearing shorts and Hoodies to dine in. Zero standards. Terrible experience and sad to say I will be writing Stonehouse off forever. I used to recommend it to everyone but now I will recommend everyone to avoid Stonehouse.

I had concerns due to reading a few reviews stating the food was overstated and some waiters could be rude, but that wasn’t our experience. The ambience, as most reviews share, was magical. I expected that, but wow, the food was incredible! The steak was literally the best I’ve ever had. They provided gluten free rolls that were also the best I’ve ever had. And the service was impeccable. One of my best dining experiences to date and thankfully so since it was our 20th wedding anniversary. 10/10!

Our first time at Stonehouse was lovely. Great service, good food, nice music. Sitting under the lit trees was wonderful. Upon our most recent visit, it didn’t quite match the great experience we have had. The food was a bit off, and our server felt pushy and annoyed we didn’t order more than we did (6 items for two of us). Unfortunate because the property is so wonderful! If you haven’t gone, still go ;)

Dined here while on vacation from LA. What an experience! Is this place pricey? Yes. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth it. To start, we were seated at the upper terrace. It had such a wonderful atmosphere there. There isn’t much lighting, but there are oil lamps at each table as well as a mini light for looking at the menu. A nice touch. The wine and drink menu is very extensive. I ended up with a glass of wine while my wife had a mocktail that was served smoked with pear wood. Presentation was A+. For starters, we had the tuna tartare and the strawberry gazpacho. The tuna was delicate and served with seaweed chips. My wife was raving about the gazpacho as well. For entrees, my wife had the black cod and I had the duck a l’orange. The sauce was flambéd table side. While the duck was excellent, the black cod was better, in my opinion. We also shared two sides: the mashed potatoes and the broccolini. I’m not sure how they made the potatoes so creamy. They were very, very good. The broccolini wasn’t too bad either, but wasn’t as good as the rest. The char flavor was a bit much at times. For desert, we shared the lemon tart. They use house grown Meyer lemons. It was excellent as well. Overall, the food was excellent, the service was superb, and the atmosphere was charming and romantic for the two of us. While the pricing would prevent us from coming here often, I’d 100% recommend Stonehouse for special occasions. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in the area.

Secret cellar dinner was very special. Excellent ambiance! Service was great too. But the food and wine is what makes the Stonehouse the best restaurant in the world.
