Swiss Chalet offers a delightful experience with its "fantastic service," classic cheese fondue, and authentic Bavarian cuisine. The restaurant boasts a "cozy and warm" atmosphere, perfect for enjoying their signature schnapps cocktail and delectable desserts. While some dishes may not impress everyone, the attentive staff, particularly Sigi, ensures a memorable visit.

enjoy. First, I urge anyone reading this to go to other restaurants unless you specifically want a fondue experience. Second, I have written many reviews, and this is unfortunately one of the very few where I had to give a 2-star rating. Swiss Chalet failed to meet expectations and left my husband and me not only disappointed but outraged. While the cocktails and wine are commendable and the complimentary pretzel bread and butter were enjoyable (reason for the 2-star), the real food was a disaster. The Käsespätzle appetizer was far too heavy. We split the Zwiebelsuppe (equivalent to French Onion Soup), which cost an additional $5 to split (without being disclosed). The bread in the soup was burnt, there wasn't enough cheese, and it was excessively sweet and salty. I dare say that the frozen French Onion Soup from Costco might be superior. My husband ordered the Wiener Schnitzel Vom Kalb (Veal Schnitzel), and I had the Züricher Geschnetzeltes (Veal dish with mushrooms and round hash browns). Both dishes were absolutely terrible. My husband's veal was exceedingly dry, and my veal in mushroom sauce was unappealing, with the Rosti being worse than hash browns I had at another restaurant for breakfast. We were charged $223 for this subpar meal. The server's attitude shifted dramatically once we expressed our dissatisfaction; no alternative dishes were offered. This lack of service added to our outrage. We felt deceived into ordering unfamiliar dishes with no recourse for our dissatisfaction. We did not try the fondue, so I cannot comment on its quality. However, if you are seeking a fondue experience, this place might still be worth a try. For those looking for quality food, I strongly suggest exploring other dining options in Vail.

Wonderful as always. It has been a Carnes family tradition for 25+ years. Plus, I visited with my parents in my 20"s.

What a fun family dinner!! We enjoyed the escargot and sausage platter to start, then the meat fondue with both oil and broth options. We also had the Racklette Matterhorn and that was my favorite part of the meal. The kids love the chocolate fondue! The service was excellent, and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. Overall, we had a great time.

Very nice and well decorated cozy swiss chalet. Service was very good and ambiance in general nice. Our waitress was very attentive, professional and friendly. We ordered a cheese fondue but unfortunately was very liquid and acidic. Vegetables were saggy and overcooked. Not the best fondue but maybe worth ordering something else on the menu

I am going to start with the good: The food and the waiter service. It’s outstanding. Incredibly good. HOWEVER, I will never step foot in there again. For two reasons: First reason and the least important: It’s obscenely expensive. I understand a little bit expensive, but this is out of this world. Almost 800 bucks for 5 people. 2 fondues, two beers, two glasses of regular wine, one coke and one onion soup. 800 bucks. Ridiculous. Second and most important reason; They engage is fraudulent activity. The check comes with 20% tip included. Since when does the restaurant dictate how much tip I leave? They can suggest, but adding it to the bill is insane And now, the most important thing: They TAX you on the tip. So, I am leaving a tip, and I am being taxed for that amount as well. This is an illegal, fraudulent and deceiving practice, regardless of the amount. Also, to add to the deceiving practice and in order to mislead the customer even more, they call the “tip”, “service charge”, and then proceed to add the word “tip” below the total amount. (That already include the tip) They go out of their way to lie and deceive their customers and scam them out of money. And they also add another bs charge. This is preposterous.
