   My family of 4 (2 teens) dined at Taverna on Christmas night - 12/25/24. We wanted to like this place, but we didn't - and it was mainly due to poor service and overpriced food. Our bill came to $667 with tip, and it was probably the worst dining experience during our vacation. Here's what made our experience poor: 1) After our water and first round of drinks were served and our order was taken, our waitress disappeared for an hour. An hour! Not once did she come back to check on us or take an other round of drink orders or refill our waters. 2) When she finally reappeared, we asked for our waters to be refilled. She forgot. When she came back again 10 minutes later, we had to ask her again for water. She came back 10 minutes later and finally filled our water. 3) My daughter's appetizer arrived 15 minutes before the remaining appetizers came out for the 3 of us. When the remaining 3 appetizers came out, it was apparent they delivered our appetizers to the wrong table. 4) Speaking of appetizers, my wife and I both got the beet salad. For the $110 price per head we paid, I was super disappointed with the size of the salad. It was tiny. 5) When our main courses finally arrived, we had no silverware. We had to wait, yet again, while our food was cooling down. When they delivered our silverware, I had to then ask for steak knives for my son and I. I could tell our waitress was annoyed, when she asked "how many steak knifes would you like?". I responded with "2 steak knifes for the 2 steaks we ordered". It's common sense that you provide customers with steak knifes when ordering steaks - not a bread knife. Overall the food was tasty, but the service was SO lacking for the price we paid. If Taverna Management is reading this review, they should pay closer attention to the tables and periodically check in with dining customers to ensure they are having a good dining experience. The waitress we had needs training and improvement.

   Visiting in from Texas. Pretty cool Christmas dinner with the family! The food was great. Barata was average but the environment was a 10/10. Patio seating looking out into the island was a vibe.

   The food was delicious and ambience was great. Our waitress seemed to forget about us a lot (kept having to repeat requests, ask for next course, drinks, silverware, etc.) but other than that it was great.

   It was horrendous. In 25 years of coming to Maui this was the worst experience to date. Portions were for small children. And we paid over $850 based on the price fixed menu which wasn’t on their website (and I called to confirm they had their fill menu- but alas they didn’t). The scam on the pricing, portions and selections is jaw dropping. Wouldn’t go back if it were the last place on earth to eat.

   Taverna’s holiday menu was excellent! There were still so many choices and all five of us thoroughly enjoyed our 3-course meal selections. Our waiter was personable and attentive. The price point was very reasonable. Love the location. Taverna remains on our favorites list and we’ll definitely be back.

   A pleasure to dine in a serene spot! The misty Mountain views overlooking the golf course was beautiful!. Our waiter Alejandro was very attentive, courteous, & friendly, enhancing our dining experience. The food was fine. For the price & extra service fee, I would expect some bread or olive starter. Portions are adequate, no leftovers.

   An excellent alternative to Lahaina. Good pizzas, delicious salad, and good selection of wines and cocktails.

   Not sure why the overall rating is only 3.5 stars. Our experience was definitely 5 stars. Food, Service, Atmo - all superb. Wife had the branzino (sp) fish over veggies and loved it. I had the carnivore pizza. We shared a Caesar salad and some focaccia. "Pizza?" you ask, "At a place like that?" Yes - because the host recommended it. It was worthy of the recommendation. We have a pizza place in our hometown (Topper's Pizza Palace) that is simply outstanding. We've persuaded many skeptics of the truth of that over the years. People who move away from our area admit one of the things they kiss most is Topper's. So when I say the carnivore pizza at Taverna was good, I'm comparing it to the excellence that is Topper's. If I had to choose between the two, the Taverna edges out the Topper's for detectability. The crust was out of this world good. The way they did the toppings was perfection. I could not eat all 6 slices, so boxed what was left to eat today. Am looking soooo forward to it. The only downside is that its pricey. But then what fine dining restaurant isn't these days?

    Ceasersalads the best ever! And the rest of the salads are great seconds. PIssa and homemade pasta are also great.
