The American Hotel is one of the few historic hotels remaining in the United States. Here, visitors can come and visit and take a trip back in time to the mid-1920s when smoking rooms and jackets were commonplace among velvet furniture and strong whiskey served on the rocks. During the summertime.
Of course, The American Hotel is more than just a hotel, it houses an excellent restaurant as well. There are multiple dining areas depending on what kind of experience guests are looking for. The Main Dining Room is a lively and rambunctious room that holds about 80 people while the Drew Room is a quieter, more private area for those looking for an intimate evening. The food is quintessential American cuisine from across the United States.

Classic cozy and excellent service. The food is wonderful. We are happy to sit in any of the rooms offered. Loved my long stemmed rose given to me upon arrival for Valentine’s dinner. Has been my favorite occasion and brunch place for 40 years!

We sat in the bar area near the fireplace and were very comfortable. I don’t know how many people work there, but it seem like a thousand and the service was outstanding. We Started with a few oversize cocktails that were delicious. We ordered a bunch of different things and everything was amazing. Combine the food and the atmosphere… his is Highly recommend.

We had not been to the American Hotel in several years until a friend invited us to go about a month ago. We could not wait to go back and celebrated an early Valentine's date last night. The French onion soup gratinee was truly spectacular with a rich broth and lots of gooey cheese. We both had fish entrees that were perfectly cooked and served with a tasty and not overcooked array of veggies. The wine list is well-known and the sommeliere helped us choose a wonderful white Portuguese wine that was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. We finished with a shared chocolate mousse. We'll be back soon!
