Although the management of The Bakery has changed, the table settings and service were still a high standard. There was less choice of menu options, but quality was still a good standard. In conclusion, a relaxing evening with friends.

Would not use this restaurant again. We were a table of 8 , the only table in the restaurant and now we understand why. After waiting over 2 hours for our food I wish hadn't have bothered. It was of very poor standard and all over cooked. It totally spoilt our evening with family and friends. The only saving grace was Tony the barman / waiter. Such a lovely man who shouldn't have to be subjected to people's frustrations over the poor kitchen service and food.

This was our first visit. We had lunch at the Restaurant on a Thursday. We found the food was excellent as was the service. Unfortunately, we were the only diners, so there was no atmosphere. Would go again, but in an evening.

We arrived to find out the restaurant door was shut then a lady came asking what we want we said we have a booking at 2.30 she went away to check She advised us oh yes you do but the chef has left for the day!! On their web site details it said it closes at 5.00 pm but obviously this is not the case. We then at to try and find an alternative but not easy on a Sunday afternoon We eventually went to a small friendly restaurant who made us welcome. This leaves us feeling disappointed with this restaurant.

On arrival informed that there was no chef and had not had a chef for 5 weeks. Place smell of moth balls. What looked like the owners were eating round a table said they would 'sort me out' presumably with food. No thanks! OMG what has happened to the much loved Bakery.

Went here for dinner with my wife. The service was way below par. When we ordered a bottle of wine and a bottle of water the server just put it on the table and walked away. No wine cooler, didn’t open or poor the wine and didn’t open or poor the water - she just plonked it on the table. The ambiance was dire. There was 1 table there when we arrived and they left before our main meal came out and then there was 1 new table arriving as we were leaving. So during our meal we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The was no background music or anything - other than our own conversation the only thing we could hear was the football being played on the TV in the bar. The food was not nice at all. We both ordered the lamb and it was very tough. I ate about half of mine and my wife had even less of hers. We also ordered bread and butter for the table and that was the best part of the whole meal.

Despite booking a table online and receiving confirmation it was closed when we arrived at 19:40, I phoned a confused sounding lady said she’d be there shortly. They subsequently messaged me with the following: “Thanks for the message. I've checked since morning and it was only booked for lunch which i served. There were no dinner maybe you've booked late. But thank you for calling me a confused lady. God bless you and sorry for the inconveniences.”

The Bakery is under new ownership and it shows. The menu is shorter, but that is no bad thing as the chef can concentrate on his main dishes.. The chef is very good and all our food was lovely. Tony, who is the "main man" front of house was on holiday so things did run as smoothly as they might have done. I think they just need time to settle in and take stock. It will not stop us going back.

Although quiet on the day we went it is a great place to enjoy the wonderful food. The new chef is brilliant! Tasty food well presented.
