   This is one of the most enjoyable outdoor eating places in San Diego - the view is extraordinary! Excellent service from our waitress was a cherry on the cake. The food does not disappoint even to a harsh critic like myself. My only recommendation is that prices are getting out of hand - $280 for a grip of four - one shared appetizer, 4 main courses and a sheep bottle of procecco is on the high side for lunch.

   As always this is the best place to go for a relaxing lunch. The view is fantastic with cool vibes. Our Server Daniel was professional yet personable. We enjoyed the soup, onion-dip, and crack sando. Unfortunately it was very cold and windy sitting outside without working heaters, however the Server brought blankets for us. Will be back.

   Let me start by saying, we love this place and come here whenever we're in La Jolla - which is 6-7 times per year but this time it was quite a let down. We had a 6:30 reservation that we had put in well over a month ago - we were not sat until after 7:00pm. I ordered a bottle of wine. The bartender brought it to us and poured the first glass while my wife and I were waiting. When we were finally sat at a table, I ended up carrying the bottle and wine glasses to the table - the hostess just told us to follow her. Our server didn't refill our wine glasses once - every time he left the table, I would pour more for my wife and I. My daughter ordered and iced tea - it never got refilled once during the entire meal - it sat empty from the time the food was delivered until we left. The server got our order wrong and when we told him, he simply said, sorry - is it ok? Not what you'd expect when you pay $350 for dinner... I usually love this place but the service has gone significantly downhill lately. It's fortunate that the location is as beautiful as it is because the service was very disappointing.

   This was our first experience eating inside which was wonderful. We enjoyed the guitar music and staff was so professional. It was my birthday which was acknowledged by the Hostess and the Server. Food was delicious and vast wine selection. Perfect place for dinner prior to attending a Play at UCSD. This is out "go to" local place. Food and service is always consistent.

   We generally love coming here as we have for several years now. Yesterday was not a stellar day for the Grill. First off we had to be shuffled inside because of blaring sun and no cover nor offered the option to move two of the many empty tables together under the covered part of the patio. We had two small children in the party that should not be in sunshine for an hour meal. Food was good but not as good as in the past. We will still come again soon but hope for a better seat and better service. Thanks

    How could we miss with one order of the Drugstore Hamburger and the other order of the Reuben sandwich? The Lodge is a family favorite, both A R Valentien AND The Grill are always reliable, delicious and fun.
