We had a 730 reservation for the Thanksgiving buffet and they started clearing food at 8 PM. Turkey was dry, gravy was thin, pumpkin pie was the worst I’ve ever had.

Food was okay, but not noteworthy. Overpriced for what was provided.

Experience was great. Well worth the cost. Gondola ride was beautiful. Service was fantastic. Every person who we came into contact with was friendly. Prosecco toast and coat check was a nice touch. Food was very well done, great variety and good flavors. If I had to find a complaint it would be the temp of the food was a little lukewarm, but it was also 4 degrees out, and people weren’t closing the serving tray lids after they were done serving themselves, plus our table was as far away from the buffet area as you can get, so what heat the food had was lost by the time we got to the table. That being said….It’s a buffet with temp serving trays, not made to order food that is sent straight to your table. I don’t mind lukewarm food as long it’s fresh and flavorful, and it was. Turkey and ham were INCREDIBLE, and the stars of the show, as they should be. Moist, flavorful, hot and the carvers kept hooking my husband up with big ole steaks of meat after he told them he was a turkey fanatic, and talked to them and thanked them for a few minutes. Be nice to your servers y’all and they will reward you. Bread service with cranberry sauce was great. I swear I could eat several bowls of the cranberry sauce. That and the pumpkin pie tarts were the stars of the evening for me. The turkey and these 2, plus the biscotti were the stars for my husband. Lastly, the tableside affogato was yummy. Very good, although I would probably change it from cold brew to hot coffee or espresso. The cold brew on top of the gelato just made it kinda icy. Still good, but ice and then going back out into 4 degree weather was brrr.

My husband and I really enjoyed the experience of Thanksgiving at Sunspot. The food was very good with a wide variety of choices. The tables were attractive and the way it was setup made moving around easy. No long lines! Our service was excellent from riding the lift up, to the champagne greeting, and to our wonderful waitress. Every employee we interacted with was so friendly and welcoming. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. First, we were unsure about what time to get on the lift (our reservation was at 5:30), so we called the resort. We were told that we could get on the lift early and have a drink at Sunspot. That was not the case. When we arrived at 4:50 we were able to locate a lift employee and were told that we couldn’t go up until the host arrived. It would have been nice to have that explained on our reservation confirmation. It worked out fine as we had a drink at Doc’s Roadhouse. The second issue was the ice cold plates. Our food very quickly cooled off. Some of the chafing dish food was lukewarm at best.. Combined with the cold plates, it lessened the experience. We would consider coming next year in the hopes that these issues would be resolved.

The experience of riding a gondola to the top of a mountain to have a drink with a friend in a lounge is pretty awesome. What's not awesome is the audacity of this place calling their dinner "Chef's Table." For anyone unfamiliar, a chef's table is a private dining experience that allows club chefs to showoff their culinary skills to members in a more intimate environment. What you're actually getting, for $45/person, is essentially cafeteria quality food in a buffet format with everything congealing and cooling under weak heat lamps. When we arrived, I was surprised when our server said "just grab a plate and enjoy." Do you guys not know what chef's table means? Even on your menu you're intentionally misleading people into thinking this is a dinner menu with full service like a standard restaurant. But whatever. Fine. Expensive, but fine. My wife orders a beer. I order a glass of wine. The server informs us they're out of some of the beers and basically all of the wine. I end up with a beer. Ok. I figure, we're still having fun. We're celebrating her birthday and let's just make the best of it. So we try the food. Maybe the price point and false advertising literally put a bad taste in our mouths but we gave it a shot. The pasta was lukewarm to cold. The tomato sauce was generic and tasted store bought. The fettuccine Alfredo was so cold the sauce was congealing and curdling. Delicious. The brisket (?) was cold somehow and dry from sitting under a heat lamp. The bread was hard as hell and like chewing through beef jerky. Everything was caked in salt. Not, like seasoned or anything. Just salt. There were (clearly frozen) egg rolls with a drizzle of sauce that was sitting on the table next to them labeled Private Selection which is a sauce you buy in Safeway. Point is, it's a criminally overpriced, misleading, Golden Corral buffet on a mountain. Just go there for the ambience and drinks, and save your cash for a McDonalds down the street.

Don't waste your time and money. Had to buy Gondola tickets separately. Most of the food was cold. The wait staff wasn't attentive at all. I was extremely bummed out as this just turned into frustration and over all disappointed from the time we arrived til we left.

On a whim we made reservations for Christmas Day brunch. We were not disappointed! The selection of food items was awesome - from basic brunch fare to chicken Parmesan and Beef Short ribs. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Ambiance was lovely and who can argue with the view! Highly recommend even for a nice lunch during a ski day!

Our experience was fabulous! The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. We had a large group with allergies and their attention to detail to cater for this was suberb! The food was amazing, as were the drinks and the ambience! What a great place to spend a Christmas Day away from home!!!!!
