The Olde Dog Inn at Herongate Tye is a picturesque Essex weather boarded inn. Known to date from the early 16th century, the pub has been serving good beer and food for hundreds of years. A wealth of traditional features greets you upon arrival with low-beamed ceilings, exposed fireplaces and a friendly atmosphere.

Once again The Olde Dog Inn has been voted by OpenTable diners as one of the best. Thank you so much to all our customers that dined with us and left a review.

*Bookings for tables of more than 6 people require a £10pp deposit which will be deducted from your bill on the day. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. If more that 48 hours’ notice is given for cancellation, we will be happy to move your deposit to a future booking or provide a gift voucher for the amount.

    Had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends. Very busy inside - staff were working really hard to serve everybody and were friendly and helpful . Food was so lovely - perfect atmosphere.

    As always an excellent meal in a lovely pub. Not the biggest menu. But every thing is well cooked and plentiful. And great beer too

    The Olde Dog Inn is the usual meeting place for me and a couple of former colleagues. Firstly, the food is great, secondly, the service is superb, and finally, we are always led to a table where we can talk amongst ourselves. We have been going there for a few years now and unless something changes we will continue to do so.

    Sunday lunch starters were great we all tried something we had never had. Pigeon, twister prawns and baked camembert. Mains Roast Beef you couldn’t choose your veg as we were told it was all mixed so you just had to pick out what you liked from peas, cabbage and carrot. Small pot on the plate of cauliflower cheese, roast potato’s and a Yorkshire. It wasn’t the best roast came up warm if you didn’t have gravy. The non roast menu was good wish now we had picked from that.

    This was the first time here ,,,it did not disappoint , there were 4 dinning ,, All about the pub was appealing the decor etc A real true olde English pub/restaurant The food was excellent served up by staff who really enjoyed their job , quite an extensive menu , and good selection of beer etc We were greeted with enthusiasm by the staff also a warm welcome from the locals that were there , We enjoyed a really memorable evening We will certainly be visiting here again very soon ,,,, i would certainly recommend THE OLDE DOG to all , give it a go we did and did not regret it 👍👍👍👍
