Tea tray and tea itself were both very good. I only wish there was a choice of a less expensive champagne or a prosecco option.

I have been to many Afternoon Teas over the past 2 decades. This was the worst on all counts, and ironically the most expensive. You’re paying for the name/reputation & nothing else. The sandwiches were stale and tasteless. The desserts were nothing special. The service was non existent. When tea was brought, the wrong tea was given to each person, and the teacup was chipped on the handle which cut my finger & easily could have snapped off. We were asked if we wanted “still or sparkling” water, and then charged $12 for a bottle of water when other tables were offered tap. I requested a bag to place some clothing items in as the paper bag I had with me had ripped. I was told no, that the bags were only for food & were too small for my items (untrue). We were asked at check in if we were celebrating anything & said yes. We were brought a mini “congratulations” cake akin to what you’d find in the to-go section of the grocery store at the same time as 3 other parties (holding the plates & dropping them off at each table). Didn’t feel particularly special. When paying, multiple checks were gathered from different tables all at once. Again, rude & led to credit card mix ups. Even the pen to sign was broken. Do not bother going here.

Our experience at the Palm Court diminished my husband‘s birthday experience. We went to the Palm Court to celebrate both my husband‘s birthday and my daughter‘s birthday (their birthdays are on consecutive days). I notified the restaurant when I booked a reservation for afternoon tea that we were coming there to celebrate both birthdays and inquired about purchasing a birthday cake. The restaurant informed me that they would provide a complementary dessert for each of them during our tea experience. When they called to confirm our reservation the day before, I re-confirmed that we were celebrating two birthdays and was again assured that they would be providing two birthday desserts. When we checked in, the hostess once again acknowledged that we had two birthday celebrants. However, the waiter only brought a dessert/candle for and sang happy birthday to my daughter and ignored my husband, which was very awkward. Moreover, our server was very disdainful and condescending, which further negatively affected what was supposed to be a special celebratory experience and made us feel as though we couldn’t raise the oversight. It was a very expensive, disappointing experience.

I took my 7 year old granddaughter for tea at the Plaza. She was absolutely thrilled. The staff could not have been nicer and treated her like a little princess. The food was just okay and it cost almost $300 but she loved it and that made it perfect. We will probably make it a yearly tradition.

The experience was a very special highlight of our trip to NYC for our girls who grew up reading and adoring Eloise. The service was top notch, our server was wonderful, and the presentations were very elegant and delightful. My favorite tastebud surprise was the savory foisgras macaron , something I never imagined I would say, much less try. Not sure I’d spend this much on afternoon tea ever again. But for a one time memory making experience we bit our tongue and splurged. As Eloise would say, “and charge it please, thank you very much.”

Exceptional experience, once in a lifetime. A special place to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It’s a beautiful building and a wonderful service. Food is exquisite. The price is a lot, but to be expected in such a historic, five star hotel.

One of the best experiences I’ve had in New York. Had to book pretty early in advance due to the Valentines Day weekend rush, but got a lovely early afternoon spot. The atmosphere was so elegant & classy. Our waitress Mary Alice was so kind, accommodating, and overall such a pleasure to interact with. Yes it is pricey, but the experience and the quality of the food/tea was well worth it.
