For 60 years The Rib Room has enjoyed its reputation for outstanding food and service. Patrons have found the massive windows facing Royal Street the perfect backdrop for Crescent City dining. The woody, Old English atmosphere, and high ceiling invite guests to sit back and stay awhile. The softly lit and equally comfortable Rib Room bar offers the ideal setting for sophisticated beverages and extensive wine cellar selections. Diners requiring privacy may choose from the Pipkin, Wine Cellar, or Roundtable rooms, perfect for small gatherings; each discreetly removed from the main dining floor. On the upper level of the Rib Room, we feature a private room for groups of up to 40 guests. Winner of the prestigious Zagat Award, The Rib Room offers classics such as slow-roasted prime rib of beef, aged steaks, and fresh Louisiana seafood.

We have an apartment 2 1/2 blocks from the Rib Room, it has never disappointed us. The food is incredible. The weight staff is personable and professional, and it’s probably one of the prettiest dining rooms in the quarters. I really feel if you experience dining there you will not be disappointed

Completely under staffed! No one could speak enough English to communicate well. I wanted sherry for my turtle soup and no one knew what I meant. Had to practically tackle some one to get anything ordered. Where was mgnt???

Scallops was disappointing, advertising them in garlic and butter but came out in a sweet syrup. Very disappointing

Made reservations like 6 weeks in advance on Open Table originally for 11:45 RR called and asked if we could change our reservation to 11:00. We arrived at 11:00 and the Maitre D forgot about us, so I had to remind them of our reservation to be seated. The crab claws were ice cold? The trout almandine was dry and NO SAUCE. We were never offered dessert or coffee?? What has happened to the Rib Room?

Not really impressed at all, reading all the reviews lately and have to agreed with the other guests. First you’re advertising about revelion menu but when we get there the server said not anymore, but why it still showing on the app, then our server was frustrated, looks like we have issues with communication and also the table next to us have same issues with him. Food was ok , not really spectacular and actually tasted so-so, my dishes were grilled hen and it’s still looked red , my friend has fish and it’s a bit fishy , the side dishes actually better than the main dishes . I been hearing about this place for a long time and finally would love to try it one time and made a decision to switched from the other restaurant last minute and I wish I shouldn’t do it. It’s a staffing issue for this places, the management should read all the reviews recently and see what they should be done.

Based on our experience, if you plan to come here for prime rib, and you like it tough and very well done, you may just like it here. Otherwise, don’t expect a nice, juicy, rare or even medium rare slice of prime rib. I should have received the clear signal when I ordered the prime rib, and the server didn’t bother to ask how I’d like it done. I then offered that I would like it on the rare or medium rare side. The server simply stated, “It comes out medium.” Actually, it came out, when it finally was delivered to our table, a thick slab of beef with a very small reddish area in the middle that rapidly disappeared before my very eyes as it continued to cook on the plate. Frankly, I’ve had better prime rib at an Outback Steakhouse. Further, the service was horrible. Our server, who was rather unpleasant, rarely came by to check on us as we waited and waited and waited for our drink orders, appetizers, etc. At one point, while waiting for a drink order, I simply left the table, went directly to the bar, ordered drinks there and paid for them. Our drink order the server had taken never did arrive. The most attentive people in the dining room were the folks keeping the water glasses full and bringing bread. I looked around and notice other diners who didn’t appear too happy about the poor service. Small high point: my wife’s order of fried trout almondine and our side dish of potato au gratin were quite good, though the appetizers were just so-so. All in all, based on our experience, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

We arrived early, ordered drinks at bar table, but they were never brought until 20 min later once we were seated for dining. The bar being a separate “business” does not work. The restaurant has no control, and the drink service was extremely slow during dinner too. Entrées were served without our sides. We asked about the sides, and were told they are coming. Waitress never checked and we had trouble getting her attention. Sides were never served!! Dinner consisted of fish only, no sides. Terrible, even for Christmas Eve…

I’ve been going to the rib room for the past 30 years. Tonight’s experience causes me to never want to return. For $500 you would expect a really amazing experience. Instead our food was cold, bland, main course entrees coming out at different times from one another. The service was really bad. Glasses were dirty. Finally, I did hear from a manager which I appreciate but the offer to do something into the future wasn’t super genuine. I’m sad to see this as tonight was a special occasion. Time for new management or ownership. Only then will I return.
