My 20 year old son has not stopped smiling since eating the 12 hour slow cooked lamb - and that was three days ago...

Very disappointed! Dinner menu, not much choice! Lunch menu very much better! My wife ordered monk fish, done in a spicy way, it was good! But I would question any fish dish with a spicy sauce, fish has a delicate taste, and with a hot sauce, you can’t taste the fish? I ordered a flat iron steak, medium, and asked for garlic butter! The plate arrived, and I noted straight away how small the steak looked! The plate consisted of a steak, with two rounds of garlic butter and a pile of chips! Unfortunately the steak, which didn’t have any seasoning on it and didn’t have much taste at all, but it was only look warm, so much so the garlic butter would not melt over the meat, and the chips, were obviously McCain French fries, I use them at home, and recognised them immediately, not what I would expect from an upmarket restaurant! No garnish on the plate! £28, plus £2.50 for,the garlic butter! We had two sweets, which were OK! I also had one glass of 250c red wine. I ordered an Argentine Merlot! And it arrived by the glass, rather than the bottle, to let me see what I was getting, then poured from the bottle! It could have been any old wine??? Very disappointed! And way overpriced for what was on offer! The total bill was just over £100. Far too much! Maybe just a bad night? However, the girls serving were very nice!

It is usually very good food but today it was very salty, especially the fries. Compounded by bacon added.

Perfect destination - met friends for a Christmas get together. Started with a few drinks at the bar before seating at our table in the original pub area by a lovely open fire. Very congenial service. We weren't the easiest group to deal with but the person who took our order handled us with utter professionalism and good humour. It made for a memorable afternoon . We will be back. ps slow roast leg of lamb for two is sensational. A must for any meat eater.

Good food and service though reasonably expensive. Busy even early on a Monday lunchtime.

Food was wonderful as always, service was not as good as usual, had to wave staff down for dessert and coffee, no asking if everything was OK, but we will definitely go back, think it will be a one off
