The Smoking Goat is an award-winning California-French bistro located in the heart of North Park, San Diego. We have received the Gold Medallion for the best French Bistro in San Diego three years running.

Inspired by his European Farm-to-Table up-bringing and culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, Executive Chef and Owner Fred Piehl, marries classic French cuisine with the bounty of San Diego in a way that is rustic, yet refined, imaginative, yet unpretentious.

The dinners served feature in-season local, sustainable and organic ingredients and provide guests with a unique culinary experience, reminiscent of the European countryside.

    Service was not good. Server forgot things, charged for drinks we didn’t have. Food was good not great. Bathrooms not working. Very loud.

    The pistachio cranberry honey Brie is what dreams are made of! The service was excellent and relaxed. Perfect ambiance for an upscale casual evening.

    Everything was delicious. We got the Brie and cauliflower apps and went with the scallops for are main. Goat cheesecake wrapped it up. Definitely be back again. So many things on the menu to try!

    The french onion soup and escargot were divine, and we loved the duck & banana bread banana fosters too! Would come back in a heartbeat, though we were a half hour late to be seated at a table we had a reservation for.

    We were initially seated on the patio, but the heater wasn't working very well, so we requested to be moved inside. This request was honored, although not immediately. Overall, service is good, but the busboy (but, to her credit, not the waitress) tried to rush us a little bit. The food quality is excellent. The broccoli appetizer is phenomenal. The steak tartare was very good, and two of us got the pork chop, which was perfect. The truffle fries were amazing

    If you haven’t been to the Smoking Goat restaurant and you want some unbelievable French food and a great experience with service this is the spot.   I’ve been there multiple times and truly can’t wait to go back. There’s nothing I have tried that I would not order again.

    I was very surprised that they didn’t have a special menu for new year’s. The restaurant basically created a price fix menu with their regular menu items. No extra decorations, drinks for new years, etc… I really expected more from Smoking Goat.
