My parents were guests at the hotel so I booked them a table at the restaurant for dinner, but unfortunately, the food was very poor! My parents had different meals but both contained chicken and they were both unwell later that evening! It sounds like they need to update their chef ASAP!!

Thank you for your feedback. As soon as this was bought to our attention on the day we investigated and explained the reason why the chicken burger comes out slightly pink-the chicken is thigh and not breast. I can assure you we served around 8 of exactly the same burgers the same day and all was well. We hope to welcome your parents back to The Talbot again.

My husband and I were staying at The Talbot, Ripley last week for a couple of nights. We decided to book a table in the restaurant for our first night. The service was good and our meal was delicious. My husband had the fish, chunky chips and mushy peas, it looked good, nice crispy batter on the fish and crispy chunky chips. I had the chicken katsu curry, it was deeelicous. When it arrived I thought it had too much curry sauce, but it soon got soaked up with the rice. The rice was obviously put into a round mold, as I cut into it with my fork it was like cutting a cake, but the rice was cooked well and soon softened up when mixed in with the curry sauce. I had the brownie for dessert, it was deeelicous, with vanilla ice cream and a raspberry coulis. Not too big a portion, just the right amount. Would recommend. The following night we just had pizza in the bar area. I can honestly say it was one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had. We shared a 12 inch pizza, with a portion of chunky chips. It was delicious 😋

I was given afternoon tea as a Christmas present so couldn’t say anything at the time but the service was good. The food was mediocre at best. They’d run out of smoked salmon so had tuna, the scones were crispy and very over cooked and the cakes were either stale or not made with flour as they were ‘grainy’. However on the plus side my friend is gluten free and was pleased with her selection but again the scones were over cooked. I’m not sure I would recommend afternoon tea there but would go back for a drink in the lovely garden.
