The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

Mario and Jose took excellent care of us during lunch today. We arrived early for our reservation and the hostess was able to seat us, which was fantastic. We sat near the tree and watched the faeries doing wishes for the kiddos of all ages. Our food was excellent, and I desperately wish they still sold the same dressing from the Walnut Room salad! I'm so glad the Walnut Room still lives up to the standards of Marshall Fields, every time I'm there it's perfect.

The service was great today. Sometimes we’ve had to wait awhile, but today was very efficient. Tasty food and nice holiday ambience. Three holiday “fairies” visited our table.

Haven't been to the Walnut Room in decades. Just a lovely experience with my granddaughters and husband and daughter. Sven our waiter was cheerful, relaxed and helpful. The fairies mesmerized by granddaughters and playfully helped them make wishes. Delightful day!

First time for my sons(15 and 9)! They enjoyed immensely! My wife, our friend and myself had a great time. It’s a tradition to meet up the top of the year and have brunch. I had the pot roast and it was NOT HOT! We had fried at the table a could have times and they were cold too. My 9 year old didn’t care for the pot pie because he thought it was crust on the top and bottom. It was only crust on top. They did replace with chicken tenders for him. Wife and son had burgers. They say they were pretty good. Missing lettuce and tomatoes. Our friend had a chicken Caesar and the chicken was very dry and old looking. He ate it but didn’t enjoy. Our service was great (Stephanie) but was really busy. It was a busy day. But she did her best and was very nice.

Wonderful smiling service. The food was good but it was mostly worth it for the festive atmosphere and the lovely room.

One of the last fabulous department store dining rooms in the United States. Not to be missed, especially at the holidays with its 30' high Christmas tree in the dining room. Lovely windows over looking State Street as well.
